that’s right after talking about it forever i finally pulled the trigger yesterday and treated myself to an .:R32
Long story short i’ve wanted once since about 2003-4 when my buddy adam dickerson showed up at the skatepark with one. At the time i wasn’t into cars, but i knew somehow that it was a cool ass car and i wanted one. Years later i learned that it was in fact a FUCKING cool car and i NEEDED one.
So after searching all the time when I’m bored i stumbled across this car. The guy was selling it because he got laid off from his job and needed the debt paid off more than he needed the car. In his FS thread he posted he wanted $xxx for it or trade for a clean DD car and a lesser amount. As luck would have it, and after much debating and my girlfriend telling me i should buy it, i felt i was able to afford the lesser amount if he was interested in my Passat. well he was, told him the good and the very few bad’s(mostly cosmetic) and he was into it.
fast foreward to thursday, after doing an emergency window regulator repair on the passat. Yea it fell into the door on my way home, fucking thing. Mr. Mattdanger drove up from Rochester spent the night and we departed promptly at 4AM friday morning.
the drive down wasn’t bad at all, took the 219 and some other back roads and random highways which really made the 440 mile drive feel not that long. After a painless transaction and a stop for some WAWA ice tea, we were off again to drive home.
oh, DC traffic FUCKING SUCKS HOLY SHIT HOW THE FUCK DO PEOPLE LIVE WITH THAT CRAP! we were driving 495 at 2pm and it was shitty, i can’t even imagine rush hour.
On the drive home Matt and I witnessed each other fall in love with a car. The last time i was in one was about 2004 so my memory is a little ruff at best. But wow, this car is amazing. The sound it makes is to die for. And the 4 miles of curvy ass mountain road we drove off of I-99 made the whole drive worth it. It pulls hard in 6th gear, and was so much fun. I am in love with this car, i really can’t believe how good it is. i’ve driven some mk4 GTI’s and this feels totally different. oh and the best part was, according to my trip computer i managed to average 33mpg on the way home, and i was going 80+. i feel the speedo and MPG thing might be off a little cause the wheels are 17’s but even if i did 30mpg that is really good.
arriving home at 10:30PM we were both beat, but totally awake. I’m going to miss the passat but i can say that it was worth it.
so far my only regret is NOT BUYING AN .:R sooner!!!

honestly i don’t even know if I’m gonna mod this car any more, maybe some wheels with tax return money, but for now it is absolutely perfect. actually I’d love a VF stage2 kit but i would hate to make this thing unreliable. maybe some day when its paid off ill do some go fast work.
I know I could have bought a faster car or a cooler car but I don’t give a Fuck, I love it.
