Got the official email this morning: all students and staff are working/learning from home starting Monday.

My wifeās employer just put them into āredā mode preemptively because theyāre so certain the county will be there soon.
Meanwhile my employer still has us 100% in office, even software devs like me that can work just as effectively (if not more effectively) from home.

My employer is 100% on right now as well. We did 50/50 work days at the height of this before but he does not want to go back to 50/50. (Half day at home for 50%, the other 50% comes in the other half of the day) We have no problem working from home but I feel we need someone at my job to end up in the hospital or for my boss to end up getting it for it to be like that again. Sad part is weāve had scares/cases already.
Update for us: we can still go into the classroom as long as we take COVID precautions, but are allowed to work from home. No students allowed in the buildings until numbers go down.
Teacher POV: this is what I wanted from the get-go, the ability to use my classroom as I wish whenever I want to come in. Thereās some days where Iām glad Iām in my room and have access to everything, but other days itās completely useless and I should just be home.
Non teacher POV: this is going to upset parents, but this is 1000% on Cuomo. 10000000%. Our superintendent told us that NO district in Erie County has the funds to test 20% of students/staff. We are actually working with General Motors right now to figure out if we can be used as a testing site for them as well as us and share the cost.
As for Testing, Iāve been going through NYS by the Sabres rink and havenāt paid once. I just got my second test on Tuesday with results back on Thursday afternoon. (negative)
cancelled my trip to the virgin islands, I was fortunate enough that the airlines and air bnb host gave me back 100% without travel protection.

Still business as usual at my work.
Iām still not allowed in the office until my quarantine is over.
We were expected to work towards 100% in November, but with my travel, I dont expect to be back more than a few days this year.
Starpoint also does not have the money to pay for this testing. No school will. At least our lord and savior can claim that it is a district choice to go full remote.
I would like to know if we are still counting every positive test as a new case, or if we are filtering out people that take multiple tests to confirm the positive result.
We need more outrage at politicians not following their own rules.

I went to Advance Auto without a mask, on accident, and no one said a thing to me, I didnāt notice until my buddy mentioned I forgot my mask when I got back in the car. I was embarrassed at first, but then I was like āeh, if it was a big deal they wouldāve said something or told me to leaveā
Consciously though Iām not enough of an ass to do that, because itās just not worth it.
