As a software engineer, that error feels like the kind of lazy programming Iād expect from a government contract. Well, the database is timing out so Iāll just spit out this generic ācanāt determine your eligibility errorā that doesnāt really say our system is broken and leaves the user wondering whoās side the problem is on.

As someone whoās oldest childhood friend works at Maximus in their Albany, NY office, I can believe this statementā¦ coming from him the contracts they get for stuff like this often times ends up being a dumpster fire.

Oh the NYS systems are worse. I know guys who have been trying to get unemployment setup for WEEKS now. One was told by the system to call in because there was an issueā¦ and of course there is no way to get anyone on the phone.
From what I gather they get contracts from NYS and Fed to build out medicare/insurance portals and now portals for COVID relief, but yeahā¦ dumpster fire more often than not.
You should see the Florida unemployment garbage. It took me 5 days to help my girl file for hers because it would just reset back to the start or time out over and over and over. Even yesterday to request her payment it took 5 hours.

Despite not living in NYS for almost a decade (holy shit time flies) I find the Cuomo brothers equal parts commendable and hilarious. Are NYSāers on the western side of the state in agreeance?
Either Cuomo could be on fire in front of me and I wouldnāt even piss on them to put it out.
