Credit Card limits

yeah, it is dumb easy. They want your money man. Did it say what the interest rate was after the 0% term? If it is too high, you can always hold onto it until June, and then dump it for a better card since you will have some history then.

edit: actually, if it is too high just hold onto it and don’t use it. Available credit is good!(see guys, I learned something today)

After June, it jumps to 19% :frowning: But I figure I will never be late using it, and hopefully using it on simple stuff like gas and food untill then, I will have something built to apply for better.

Congratulations! Now just don’t let yourself slip on buying something with it you can’t pay off by the end of the month. It’s like heroin…

Yeah I’ve had a 20k citi professional card since I was like 20 years old. Had it for nearly 7 years now, never carried a balance over 500 bucks on it.

I run everything through it, and usually end up with a couple pairs of roundtrip tickets per year. Last year I only got one pair, they jacked the rewards system up a little bit…

Now I just call them and tell them to send me southwest gift cards.

I keep am amex blue card as a backup… They keep calling me asking if I am going to make a purchase on the card, so I put my cable bill on it once a month.

ok, so clearly my $5k limit is a joke then. I am going to stop worrying about it

If you plan to keep using it and pay the balance off right away after June you will be fine and not have to worry about the high interest rate. If you don’t plan to use the card, it is still wise to hang on to the card. Credit companies look at not only the highest balance paid, and on time payments; but they also look at the length of time that the revolving account has been open. So don’t cancel it right away even if you don’t plan on using it, just lock it away in a safe if you don’t need it. Then cancel it after having it for a year. Creditors take the time of an open account quite seriously as well.

Uh…how is having a financed vehicle having “zero debt”?

My credit card has a $750 limit…I rarely use it.

I didn’t know they went that low.

it was a student one that I got a long time ago…never bothered to apply for another one…I usually just use my debit card.

to each his own… personally I like getting rewards and building my credit while being much better protected.

I was away all day. This is the answer.

+2, in 99% of the cases on this board.

that other 1%: keep in mind that if you’re going for a secured loan (large [larger then a used STI] vehicle note, mortgage, biz loan, etc) and have $100k (for EXAMPLE) in avail unsecured, you may be denied. Particularly in today’s lending environment - as confirmed by a good friend who is still a jumbo mortgage writer.

a.) that is ALOT of potential Debt that has to be accounted for.
b.) why can’t you just buy the 2010 Acme XYZ with one of those huge cards?

I can recall 4 occasions where it was like tooth and nail to get anything over $1m pushed through because someone had too much potential revolving (in 2 cases it was ~1m in LOC). I thought it was the staunch bank policy at the time, yet they are one of the most insulated and currently healthy consumer banks currently. lol.

Again, 1% of Nyspeed, if that.

my loan is not held by any bank that reports to the 3 credit check agencies.

what cicumstance would put a person into this category?

BLACK CARD!.. not really a credit card but a charge card FTW!

If you are talking about the Centurion Card, then yeah right…
