Cruise Against Cancer - August 7, 2010 - Car Show, cruise, benefit

Sorry for the late notice, but here is an event worth posting about.
3rd Annual Cruise Against Cancer
Saturday August 7, 2010
http://jacquieforall.com/Cruise_Against_Cancer.php

It’s a car show, cruise, lunch, benefit, and fun time all wrapped into one.
It’s a benefit to raise money for Roswell Park in memory of Jacquie Hirsch who passed away 2 years ago after a battle with cancer.

I went last year and it was one of the best events I have ever gone to. And I go to a TON of shows.

Cars show up around 10am for a car show. $20 admission gets a car in, and 2 lunches. Also entered for a chance at awards.

They have a ton of prizes they give away.

His new shop, www.automotiveenclosures.com is freaking amazing

There will be some rare and cool cars in the showroom

At 2pm, there will be a cruise to Roswell Park to give them a check. It’s escorted by some motorcyclists and is a fun ride

You will get the warm and fuzzy feeling that you are helping them find a cure for cancer. You get a tax writeoff. You get lunch for 2 people. You get to see some awesome cars.

So enough descriptions, just be there.

Say hi to me in the blue w/ white 69 Camaro

Possibly in, depends how motivated I am to detail the car tomorrow. Anyone want to cruise from the South (EA area)?

This cruise is excellent! One of the few “cruises” where we actually do some driving.

You can do a heater when you pull in too!

I am on mobile, but can I make a donation without attending? Anything supporting the fight against cancer is worth my $. My parents are large anonymous donors to roswell and I believe in the fight.

Yes you can donate without attending. Here is the link to do so:

Here’s a few pics from last years show:

The building you see in back is for storing cars. It is HUGE and very nicely setup:

Some of the goodies. When you register you get a ticket. They raffle off each prize to the registered participants. Some of the prizes were worth substantially more than the $20 reg fee.

Looks like a nice cruise for a great cause, hope it was a success. That storage building looks awesome.

It was amazing! I will post up some pics soon.

A GORGEOUS Nova! Big-block fuel injected.

The glassed area inside of the main building. Some really nice cars in the building!

A sweet older 'Vette! The paintjob is amazing!

A few of the lineups:

A very tired little girl!

More CHEVY HOTNESS! SLP Camaro SS:

C6 Z06 with some sweet wheels!:

SS396 Nova:

kc135’s car! Car is MINT!

This is the table of prizes. When you registered you got a ticket. They gave away a total of 94 prizes. I won a t-shirt. Some of the prizes were Buffalo Bills folding chairs, Mothers brand car detailer, hats, other cleaners, etc, etc. You also got 2 meal tickets. Each meal ticket was good for 2 slices of pizza, a can of pop, a bag of chips, a bag of cookies, some ravioli, and a slice of bread/butter. John’s Pizza down the street literally brought about 30 large pizzas to the event.

Here is the other tables of chinese auction stuff. These tickets cost extra, but the prizes were pretty cool! Tons of gift certificates to local places. You can see camarojoe putting his tickets into the bag for Chippendales up in Canada. Not sure what that’s about…

Here’s the big 50/50 winner! Some old guy who graciously donated all of the money right back to the foundation! $447 if I remember correctly. Way to go Howie!

I didn’t get a lot of pics during the cruise because there were lots of convertibles in the cruise with passengers taking pics so I figured there shots would be a lot better than mine anyways. Here’s a shot of us lining up in front of Roswell. There are more cars parked in the parking ramp accross the street. The cruise was sweet! Had bikes and TJ leading the way and all in all noone got split up.

It made channel 2 and 4 news later in the day. Here is the video for channel 4:

The guy talking is TJ Hirsch, he has a sweet 3rd gen Camaro and a 2002ish Saleen Convertible.

Looks like a nice cruise, and A-L-L raised 330 k since 2007, amazing. I have to keep a eye out for this next year. I could put together something in the chinese auction if they need it.
