if I ever finish the Accord (getting there, kinda…), the next vehicle I want to pick up would be a CRX (I LOVE EM!). I want to do the same thing you’re doing. I’m not gonna lie though, it takes alot of paitience (and beer too) to do restore a car. It’s been a mother f’in bitch at times trying to figure out what the hell the kid did that had the car before me to f*ck something up, but it’s been a great learning experience also. I can’t wait to see more progress pictures!
Should look something like this, I photoshoped the rims on this bitch.
but say a 2005 escort gets totalled. you fix it up. did you “restore” it?
i feel you. except in addition to “restoring” at least 1 e30 at a time, I’m also dumping countless k into that thing acouple centimeters below this post
thats only body damage and the interior/suspension parts are too new to need anything, so no. but a car that is 10+yrs old thats been in buffalo all its life and everything has rotted/corroeded/broken down and tons of stuff needs replacing is a different story. i totalled my focus the winter after i got it, and did all the collision work myself, and i dont consider that restoring, even though i replaced everything from the windshield forward
i remember when toda first bought this car. the racing stripes were the shit
good luck with the project, its a clean shell, so it should be all that bad.
Lemme know whan You tackle that one. I’d love to put together an AWD Rex but parts sourcing is nearly impossible
So tonight i was bored and I had some motivation. I went outside and did a little more work on teh car. Basically just gutted the inside and to see what I have to work with. The car is in great shape, dosent look like there is any body damage on the car anywhere. So hard to find a good shell in Buffalo, but thanks to Fastandcheap I have a awesome car to start with. So here is what I did tonight.
Starting to get messy again, just cleaned everything out my garage and its filling up again.
Look, no annoying loud Click when I open this door.
Look inside the fender wall, NO RUST or previous work done.
I need alot of new interior pieces though, like rears, center console etc.
Stay tuned…
Next time i will resize the pics to better fit the screen.
impressively clean… I wish my e30 was even close
Sic Project

just for reference…that silver cone, that is mounted under where the rear seats would be, it is held in with 3 bolts. has the harness coming from the top. what is that? is that the fuel pump?
yes that is where the fuel pump is
always thought so, but never too sure
Sure would be, but im gonna keep her stock as possible. I want to put it back to the way it was when it came off the line.
