Well since I just sold my beloved 00 Naudi A4 to a fellow shift member, rexford flats racing, I felt I needed to get something for fun & to keep the miles off the GLI. So, the day I sold the Naudi, I hopped onto Craigslist & found a bone stock 89 Honda CRX DX 5 Speed for cheap & decided what the hell & bought it. Spur of the moment kind of buy & for 800 doll hairs why the hell not. So here’s the specs on the car.
89 Crx, dx model
-180,000 original miles
-5 speed
-100% bone stock other than a aftermarket headunit
Things I have to do to it:
-Muffler
-Valve gasket
-Plugs & wires
-Fix a dent in the right fender
-Get some new corner lights & lower lights for the bumper inserts
-Clean it inside & out badly.
It’s got it’s typical Honda cancer but for being over 20 years old it runs really well. Hasn’t been on the road since 09 & fires right up. I’m not a Honda person by any means but I gotta say, so far I like this little car. I’ll post some pics up tomorrow of it. Plans for it: LEAVE IT BONE STOCK & RUN IT TIL SHE BLOWS UP :excited
The body will be long gone before it blows up. I have tried to kill stock single cam civics/crx for years, if there is oil on the dipstick it wont die.
Almost forget an @$$ shot & the engine bay. Went to pull the plugs on it last night & the wires were frayed so I picked up some new NGK plugs & wires today. Hopefully getting a new front bumper this weekend, not painted to match but it’s a beater so who cares.
Well, my little CRX has gone from being just a beater to now a full on resto project. As I told my friend Bryan “I just started taking parts off & here we are now”. Got a used front bumper, front & rear bumper support as well as a new headlight for the car after I completely stripped the car down. Started fixing the rust & getting the car ready for some fresh paint. We’re repainting it silver to maintain a stock appearance since that’s the goal with this car, 100% stock. Here’s some pics we took of her from the weekend.
