How do i get it to very high settings, is this only limited to dx10? I run it fine on all high settings at 1280x1024, but i cant get any of the very settings to turn on.
I believe you need to download cracks.
dx10 I am pretty sure…has to do with particle/light effects that only dx10 can support
god dammit, so in order for me to go full i need to run vista?
lol not gunna happen
you can do it in xp too. its easy. all you gotta do is follow these steps. Go to your HD, then program files, electronic arts, crytek, crysis, game, config, cvargroups, and then youll see a bunch of files that need editing. Make sure you select one of them and click on properties and make sure it can be opened with notepad or something like that. Then once you can open them and read them youll see 4 different game settings. Itll be = 4, then [1] [2] and [3]. Those numbers represent the settings of very high, low, med, and high respectively. First thing youll want to do is get into crysis and set all the details to high. Then come back to these files that need editing. What needs to be done next is simple. In each file youll have to copy everything from = 4 and paste it into the [3] category. For example. I opened the file called particles. I then copied this:
e_particles_quality=4
e_particles_lod=1
e_particles_max_emitter_draw_screen=32
r_UseSoftParticles=1
e_water_ocean_soft_particles= 1
e_particles_object_collisions=1
that was found under = 4 which are your very high settings. Then once copied, I pasted it over top of the settings under [3]. Now if you look at [3] it should read exactly what you copied from = 4. Get it? Sorry If I suck at explaining it, but its as easy as copying the settings from 4 and pasting over 3 in each of those files. let me know if get it working! I have vista and dx10, but I still run crysis in dx9 mode with all the editing done as it looks basically the same as the dx10 version plus runs a few fps better.
You can throw the modded cvargroups in, and the modded inf file, and it will be in very high, while saying its in high. But for the best res, you need to be running DX10, and you need vista for that.
What the hell video card are you running that you can play crysis on very high? I suppose its a low resolution, but still… You need 280GTX tri-sli for any decent frames in this dam game on very high.
wrong. dual 8800 gts (g92) overclocked to 775 core 1850 shader 2200 memory w/ my 1680x1050 22’’ or my 42’’ 1920x1080 tv. Obviously my frames are a bit better on the 22’’ monitor but the tv is fun sometimes. frames for both hover around 30-40 fps. obviously some parts youll hit 20s which is really pushing it. but 30-40 is very playable, and it looks great. About a month ago a new set of drivers came out that REALLY helped add fps to the 8 series cards for crysis. In dx10 mode I saw about 10fps better with the 175.16 drivers. However, as nice as my pc is for gaming, as soon as I think about adding AA to the visuals in crysis(even a small x2) it quickly becomes unplayable, at higher resolutions.
Also…tri sli wont show benefits until you start hitting resolutions higher than 1920x1080. Also…huge waste of $. 2 video cards is more than enough for just about anybody.
I only have a single 8800GTS G92 at 850/2300/1285-DDR, and i dont find my frames playable at ALL at 1360x768, all settings at high 16xQAA, DX9. Im hitting mid 50’s average, and thats quite poor. It dips down to 30’s or lower sometimes too. With modded very high settings, i get 30’s averge FPS on the stock crysis timedemo.
And I’m well aware of tri-sli scaling.
theres no way you are getting 50+ fps on high with 16xQAA. Even with that low res and dx9. No way. On very high with 16xQAA im only getting mid 30sand I have 2 cards.
And how is that poor? If you were to achieve those, itd be quite good for crysis. Yes 60fps is ideal for a first person shooter game, but considering what game we are talking about here, you dont need 60 fps.
ok u 2 quit bickering, take it to pm.
DJS thanks for the info, ill try it when my new vid cards come in.
ooo what card what card?
very good choice. I heard those things beat out the new gtx 260’s. Good for ATI
With some light vmods and some tweaking, you can push those things into GTX 280 territory in crysis fps.
Make sure you clock the piss out of your cpu to feed those beasts.
already up to 4ghz, on my e8400, more to come i think.
ya. at 3.6ghz my q6600 still slightly bottlenecks my 2 g92’s. At 4.0ghz the 3dmark score goes from 18500 to a little over 20k, and only a little of this is from cpu. Get that e8400 as high as you can. Those gpu’s are beasts.
yeah i just have to apply my new paste, i dont think i applied it correctly with the heatpipe cooler i have, even so my temps still seem to be hovering at 33. Now i just haveto find a decent xfire MB, i love the p35 chipset tho so im not sure if they make those in xfire. Time for some more research.
that one looks decent. Im making the assumption you are still on ddr2 as ddr3 is still way overpriced. Only thing with that board is while running xfire the 2nd slot is only at x8 speed, so its not taking full advantage of the 2nd gpu.
Once you get into the $250 range at newegg, youll find a bunch of xfire boards in there. Not sure how much you wanna spend, but make sure you get one that allows for full speed of both pci lanes. Gotta make sure those gpus can run as fast as they can.
Also, P35 and 45 chipsets should allow for crossfire. Thats one thing nvidia did to shoot themselves in the foot. They didnt allow intel the rights to sli. Ati was smart and let intel into the crossfire concept. I hear intel makes a solid/stable chipset.
Yeah DDR2 1066.
I love my chipset, it blows that nforce crap away, i thought nforce was the shit, until i got p35, its nice when all the drivers actually load correctly the first time.
ehh not all nforce is crap. Ive got a 780i. It performs great but I will admit it has stability problems on occasion. I was just forced to buy an nvidia chipset because nvidia dominated th gpu market for so long and I wanted sli. I wish intel made sli chipsets. too bad…
