I see old people driving them mostly.
I got this note back from someone in the know:
You are on top of it yes the v10 engine controller can’t do torque requests
Therefore it can’t do ESC?
There is a big difference between “Can’t” and “isn’t set up for it because no one wants it”. The Venom Controller is the most advanced engine controller that Dodge has. It absolutely should be able to handle ESC/Tq Managment if they want it to, and its similar sister controllers already have it. The OLDER SBEC [92-95] and JTEC [96-06] controllers cannot handle ESC, but that is kind of irrelevant.
Just makes me wish that the Magnum was still around. The 6.1L version was bad-ass… but a Viper engine + station wagon?
Understood, and to be honest I don’t understand all the in and outs of the system, but I am just going with what I have been told by very reliable guys. If I had to put a wager down I am going to go with no 2012 MY Chrysler vehicle will have a V10 “Viper” engine.
I highly doubt it would be worth it to re-develop engine management software for very limited number of vehicles.
That is unless there is a union agreement to build Xxx number of V10’s a year for so many years and then maybe the math makes sense.
Or if they are updating the engine anyways to put into the new Viper, then that might make sense as well.
Haha, I think you severely underestimate the way the SRT guys work… many of them help develop these cars on their spare time just for kicks. The Jeep SRT is one example of this- it came about because the SRT guys wanted something fast to drive in the Detroit winters when they couldn’t drive their Vipers!
Controller programming is updated ALL the time, so its no big deal- and they already have dozens of rough programming starting points from other vehicles. Most of the other vehicles other than the Viper already have all of the ESC hardware, and currently employ its use. The V-10 and the Venom Controller, would need nothing more than a new software program to integrate with the other modules. The Chrysler cars use network communications, so nothing else in the system would need to be changed for it to work correctly. The Viper, which is currently being redesigned, will of course be getting the ESC hardware this time around, whether or not any of us want it. The engine itself, does not have to change to accommodate ESC- Torque Management is just a method for controlling cylinder firing, whether it be Fuel or Ignition cuts.
i know someone who has a 300 with a bentley grill
he thinks hes cool
Without saying who I know, I have friends that have or currently work on or with the SRT team and build the cars you are talking about.
These are the guys I am talking to.
The Viper-powered Chrysler 300 wasn’t the work of enterprising Chrysler engineers or attention-starved tuners. It’s the work of one guy with a V6-powered Chrysler, a junked V10 and a dream. Red Letter Dodge shares the story with us.
I win
Damn I own one and i’m none of the above. lol
Thats fine, but if they told you the Viper doesnt have FBW, or if the Venom Controller cant handle TQ Management for ESC, then they are very obviously old-skool SRT guys who are no longer in the loop. I deal with some of the SRT guys as well, and bounce messages to Herb Helbig and Dick Winkles quite regularly on some of the stuff I am working on/with… and you cant get much higher on the SRT totem pole than those two guys. Herb is but a legend, and Dick RUNS the Viper engine program.
Herb Helbig and Dick Winkles sound like gay porn stars…
^It’s funny that they developed the penis extension Viper lol
I’d have to agree with Final GTS on the new viper being able to have ESC. It really isn’t anything for a large company to develop the new software needed to accomplish this. Hell I bet Final GTS could do it if he cared to.
I think Dodge should do this, it is bad ass. America needs more bad ass along with more gravy. Pussies.
Already on it
Exactly. In this time of green, we should be embracing anything and everything that puts these tree hugging hippies in their place. Put a V-10 on a lawnmower that does wheelies and can cut down trees, and I might just buy one!
Sign me up for the V10 lawn mower.
You must have missed post 29
Lol dick winkles
I’m fucking dieing over here
