I appreciate and value the opinion of such a decorated and accomplished driver as yourself.
If you like it who really cars. I don’t think it sounds that bad actually. I’m sure there are ways to make it even lighter if you’re obsessing over weight but that could be said about a lot of things.
But Newman’s racing success is irrelevant since his design and engineering are arguably used in applications with much higher stakes.
Oh, I am sorry I dont tool around cones in parking lots and call myself a driver. According to NYS and my insurance company, I am quite the accomplished driver.

Here’s a just a simple idea that would have “saved weight”. Don’t even try and say the tight radius bend is going to have a greater flow restriction, because that resonator will be 1000 times worse.
It also would have looked a lot better than letting Pythagoras design your exhaust.

Why are you bothering to put anything in the rear fender area? Assuming you needed a “long” resonator and the left bank exits on the right side:
Now if there was a stubby that could fit in there:
There could be a stupid rule that the “intent” of a replacement exhaust has to follow the same path as stock, which could be loosely interpreted as that the rear fender should be filled.
Honestly, I’ve never even seen the underside of a 911 before, but your idea looks good.
I’m just seeing a major flaw in what’s shown of Merlin’s design whose only alleged constraint was “lightweight”.
