the car wouldn’t be hard to stop. it has no momentum. just like if it was on a dyno. the trick would be to get the drive wheels and the conveyor belt to slow down/accelerate at the same rate. so it would be possible for the car to go off on end or the other but it wouldn’t get chucked off at any high rate of speed. of course I doubt you’d want to stand under a falling Nascar no matter how fast its horizontal motion is.
