BTW, the last non-Z (so non-hardened gears) 3.42 diff I sold I got $750 for. I see Z diffs go for $800+. Let me know if you see a Z diff for $500 cuz I’ll buy it on the spot for a spare!

4.10s are kinda pointless unless you’re just drag racing and run ETStreets (or better). C5 diffs are tricky to build so not a lot of shops will even to gear installs for you, so most ppl go with a DTE or something, which is about $1600 for the Stage II. That money can be much better spend somewhere else IMHO.

4.10’s actually wouldn’t be that bad in my car. I have the MN6, not M12 trans. The final drive of a MN6 with 3.90’s matches almost exactly to the M12 with 3.42’s (4th gear is different).

I’m kicking around the idea of buying the gears and tools and having my brother take a shot at it. A couple of guys on ls1tech have done their own and pull 1.4x and 1.5x 60’s.
