I personally disagree with much of the leasing “logic” in this thread but what do i know. Im just a lowly cpa. I’m terrible with numbers and I’m poor haha.
Private party for used cars dealers for new. Buy a newer domestic with higher miles for 3k and save 2k for repairs if you are hell bent on a used car. You can buy a nice Taurus for 3 grand.
For Example, we have three leased cars in my family:
Me - My Buick, 250$ a month, 39 months, 1000 down, but my CC was 803
Dad - 1000 down but don’t remember monthly payment, 2011 Malibu
Mom - 2012 Chevy Cruze Eco, avg. 44 mpg, 6 speed, awesome car, 1000 down, 225 a month, and her CC is 690ish
No GM discounts were used (weren’t very helpful)
My buddy’s sister - 2012 Cruze Base Model - Auto - Grand down, 170sh month, shes 18
Some of the BEST CPAs in WNY lease. I know this for a fact.
Buying a house would be a terrible idea if it was worth 1/2 of it’s value in 5 years.
Why did I quit selling cars? Simply the sales practices I was taught and had to implement there. Would you like working 60 hour weeks? Now I do marketing consultation/make my own schedule.
Plus I hate dealing with people in Buffalo.
I would never lease. Personal preference as I can afford to buy my cars and pay them off within a couple of years.
You could check out an auction of NYS seized vehicles. I got an 07 impreza wagon with 53k for $5900 after auction fees, car just needed front brakes. Gotta pay for it that day though, and you can’t test drive it so you want to bring someone who knows cars if you don’t.
FUCK. THAT. SHIT. I can not stress just how bad of an idea that is.
You don’t like to gamble?
I personally wouldn’t ever buy a car sight unseen or without a test drive. That is a huge risk, no matter how much savings.
If you’ve ever seen the vehicles at dealer auctions you would steer clear of many dealers around here.
I’m amazed at the amount of issues Lia Auto Group has -Total Closed Complaints 83.
83 complaints out of 25 dealerships in 3 years with that name? I’d say that’s a damn good complaint record.
Believe me, a lot of complaints against dealers are completely the customer’s perception. Especially one as big as Lia.
“You sold me this car, 4 years ago and since then I’ve put on 40,000 miles. It broke down, what do you mean you aren’t going to fix it?”
With the number of sales a year seems low lol
Probably upwards of 30,000+ sales a year.
^^beck I’m going to stop by soon and just check up on my work there/say hi to mike…let me know what day is good that you’ll be ok to leave for lunch
West Herr sold 30K last year. And they are just localized around here and Rochester. They have FAR less complaints.
Northtown probably sold about 10K.
That’s a ton of money plus service, financing, accessories and parts.
Their rating is also A+ and all complaints have been closed
Don’t see how its relevant to anything else however lol
Lia is known to be high pressure. At least that’s what I learned when I was shopping for Hondas in buffalo back in 2008.
The BBB is a scam. It’s a private business. A place I worked at was not “accredited” by them and for whatever reason had a B rating. No explanation.
As soon as the owner paid the $600 yearly fee it was bumped up to a A+.
Right now I don’t see the value in 5k cars.
I bought two cars for right around 5 grand about 5 years ago. Typical 4 cylinder gm’s with low mileage.
We drove the cars for the past 5 years and had no car payment. So it was right around 1000 a year to drive a car. Neither has had any major repairs.
I could turn around and sell either one of those cars for right around 3-4k right now. The used market is so hot, and anything for 5k is really junk.
Its even hard to find something decent for 10k, I’ve been looking.
The only used car deal that makes sense to me is a newer crown victoria or grand marquis. You can get a nice one for 8-10k and they will run forever.
Other than that, a civic or accord lease makes sense to me.
