Diagnose this: Acura headlamp

My 2002 CL driverside head lamp has a bad bulb (so I think).
Anyone with Acura expertise help me out…

It began to flicker when initially turned on, and now won’t turn on period. I was under the assumption it was the bulb.

I called an Acura dealer to ask if they could help install the new bulbs i bought (the housing requires a special bit to access that only the dealer has…) and they informed me it may be the inverter/igniter combo…

apparently this is a f*cking 450 part and the bumper must come off to access it…

does the flickering mean its that special part? in no way can i afford that. its unreal i would have to pay that much, but they have me by the balls… i would be better off buying a new set off ebay.

what does this shit mean
thanks ahead of time

It is probably the igniter unit johnson. If your bulb was bad, it would fire up at all.

ignitors can be found for cgeap on ebay

Keep turning it off and on see if that does it. My dads got a shit igniter and it just takes a couple tries.

hid’s?

Do car companies really do that stuff on purpose?
like special tools to do oil changes and stuff?

Just so you have to go to the dealer and they get more money out of you?

you can buy those specialty tools, its illegal for them to have tools that arent sold, so that way home mechanics and smaller mechanics can still do the jobs
