diagram of "who owns who" in the automotive world

probably the LEAST confusing way to have it all layed out

image needs updating, who wants to photoshop it ?

wait, i thought KIA was owned by ford?

and LOL at Fiat owning maserati. Poor guys, theyre like the unwanted whore of the european market.

100% Honda?
What about Acura?

I believe Porsche is the only truely independent production car company.

For that same case what about Infiniti?

How do you figure?, Touareg wasn’t an independent effort…

afaik porsche owns about a fifth of VW.

That is ether really old or just inaccurate.
VW and and Porsche should be tied in somehow, and where is Scion with Toyota?

Word, that is just not right, Porsche and VW are tied together, where is infinity and acura, I thought some one owns a stake in lotus, I didn’t think Daewoo made cars any more, and wtf is with Samsung

GM sold their share of subar to Toyota
and wtf is with Samsung
Probably Samasung heavy industries, like trucks, semis, forklifts, buses…

But then what about Fuji Heavy Industries…

And if you are considering electronics what about Mistsubishi and Toshiba…

Scion is Toyota.

Acura is Honda.

Infinity is Nissan.

Ferrari owns Maserati, not Fiat (who owns a majority of Ferrari)

GM no longer owns any Fiat, or Subaru.

It’s a pretty old chart.

Honda created Acura as a “brand” for the US market. They are not separate. Acura = Honda. Honda = Acura. In most cases (financial, etc) Acura doesn’t really exist and is not mentioned, as Honda is the company recognized by the rest of the world.

I would think the same is true of Infiniti, so the diagrams are slightly wrong. Just as Toyota has Lexus shown, they should have done the same for Acura and Infiniti.

As for Porsche, they own a 27% portion of VW. They were never acquired by VW. Porsche bought 15% or so back in the day to prevent a hostile foreign takeover of VW.

The chart is a couple years old. Maybe close to a decade. Definitely not 100% accurate for today.

they are strictly northamerican luxury divisions…the same cars are over in europe and wherever with the parent badges on…ex: Honda Integra

so odds are this chart is not from the US :gotme:

and you are correct about porsche…despite old people telling me all the time its owned by VW :bloated:

EDIT: rick beat me to it :stuck_out_tongue:

Ferrari no longer owns Masterati, Fiat controls them now. That happened late last year.

Lotus is owned 51% by VW now.

Porsche owns 29% or 33% of VW/Audi Group (whatever the max for german law is before making a formal take over offer).

I also could’ve sworn GM sold their share of Subaru.

This is interesting that one of the biggest Nissan people on the forum doesn’t know this…

Samsung was ready to start a promising car company, but a few years later the Japanese financial crisis happened and Renault bought control of the company. They sell rebranded Datsuns. Err. Nissans.

It can be read in colorful detail here:

I don’t know how I came across Samsung Motors. I think I typed Samsung into Wiki one day and then it linked to Samsung Motors and I read it.

Oh yeah, and Ford no longer owns Aston Martin. They do retain a 10% stake in them though.

interesting, good diagram

If you mean well drawn, yes, it’s great. But it’s not even CLOSE for accuracy, which is all I give a shit about. :smash2:

dude, chills.

yeah the porsche thing confused me. cause its blatently obvious that the toureg and cayenne are the same basis

deff an old diagram. ford owned only 33% of mazda maybe back in the 90s…
lol @ daewoo
