DIY Basement Renovation Project: Adding Bedroom and Bath.

I dont even need a dehumidifier in the basement. And no, not three days…, tomorrow is my last day in Buffalo. I would need 2 days to do that install. But i think the idea of a conveyor belt shower system is great!

i’ll take a picture of my ricer lighting later too.

Can I test out the shower? I’ll write a review that you can leave with the house

And the last pics of the completed work now that I have moved out.

So good looking.

^ Looks better than “good.”

That really is awesome.

looks amazing… any reason why you went with metal studding???

For me I’d avoid that 100%, I just hope it stays dry down there…

anywho - looks awesome…

^Thanks all. I’ve gotta admit…i miss it already. Best shower ever. Hopefully in a few years it’ll be my summer home and i’ll have a reason to move back to buffalo.

i liked that the steel studs are 100% true and straight. Also, they were a bit cheaper than quality 2x4’s. Plus, having all the wood in the basement will only make it more humid as the wood absorbs moisture. I have all of the studs sitting on a foam vapor barrier to prevent any rust where it would sit on the concrete…and the basement is VERY DRY to begin with.

Did you just tile over the original base you had?

I agree with ya on the metal studs - i was going to do that in my basement, but my primary concern was water/metal/electrical didnt mix well with me.

Plus the fact with renters, in your case, having children and seeing a cool shower/setup, might do some “No-No”. Also, power outages etc…

All-in-all i love the setup!!!

Yeah, which was my plan if the concrete didn’t turn out the way i wanted. Just tossed mortar on and went to town.

Thanks, and yeah, no problems as of yet. I have an access panel behind the toilet for the sewage pump and can see some of the studs around the shower. After one year, no sign of moisture problems, rest, etc.

Great work man! I would be doing the same if my basement was a 1/4 of that size. Stupid half basement with low ceilings

I don’t know how I missed this thread but thanks for the random bump. Amazing work and gives me lots of ideas for my upcoming basement remodel.

Hah yea me too. I dont know how I missed 7 pages worth. My neighbor wants me to do his bathrooms so ill show his these pics for inspiration

I miss my basement. :frowning: Though it’s nice to have others paying my mortage, taxes, and HOA (plus extra)… all while i still own it. It was good experience and a great rennovation that added awesome rental appeal. And i saved myself a ton of dough doing it myself.

I can’t wait to build my “dream” home!

Thanks everbody for the criticisim, critiques, and advice!
