So i’ve been messing around with concrete lately and thought i’d share this little project because the top turned out so cool. I’m not going to get into the details too much unless questions are asked. I was pretty happy with the result.
The client wanted something that incorporated their logo and their gym motto. Also they wanted the base to be raw concrete to fit the theme of the gym. I made the top blue to match their color theme.
I made all the molds myself out of melamine board and foam.
The top is constructed using a secret process i developed to create an “ocean floor” look, then polished with diamond pads. The top also has a little built in business card slot. Their motto is acid eteched into the concrete.
I also cut a 35# Kettle Bell in half and mounted it to either side of the base.
This is not wet cast, but light weight Glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC). I’ll have to add pictures when the lighting is installed under the counter edge.
The Base weights about 180# and the top weighs about 70#
enjoy.
