Do Students Deserve a Bailout?

how is this different from the NUMEROUS CEO’s and high up exec’s of the bailed out companies getting ridiculous bonuses and taking cruises with the bailout money?

You’re such a wonderfully ignorant voter. Great. Perfect. Just what we need.

Is this for serious or are you just trolling now?

The person that blogged it probably voted for Obama, so clearly this is Obama’s fault. That is why nobody should have voted for him.

Yes, exactly :grouphug:

:word:

Obviously your a socialist if you voted for Obama, if you want socialism move the hell out of the US. The US is Capitalism. Which means the government shouldn’t be getting involved in companies like it has, I.E. BOA & ML…

I just see the facts :gotme:

Aaaaannd its all downhill from here…

I see you have been thinking again

My wife and I have another mortgage payment every month because of our student loans. Still, I am not complaining. This great country lent us good money and financed our education at reasonable rates. I won’t get into grad school being over priced because that’s another story. Other parts of the world if you dont have the cash/come from a priviliged family no higher education for you. Our degrees allowed us to break into/succeed in our fields. Now I see it as another essential bill that will not go away. Not for a looong time. Mortgage heat electricity nelnet. And dont even get me started on the fucks who default on their student loans.
If someone wants to pay off our student loans go right ahead. I promise to stimulate the economy by buying more car parts.

factor in interest and you have way more than 10k, i’m putting $100/check into college savings fund already. if my kid ends up being a dunce and not going to college, oh well, hookers and blow party.

edit: and I’ll also +1 the bandwagon of: half of the kids i know that took student loans did stupid shit with the money. tards.

I guess I am a little different than a few of you posting. I graduated with 65K in student loans. I knew what I was getting into when I did it. My parents didn’t help other than picking up books for my first few semesters, and I did not get much financial aid. Yes I could have gone to a cheaper school for the same education, but felt the school I went to is what suited me for how I learn. I have nor problem paying back the money I borrowed for the next how many years, I know I will make that money if not more back over time.
There should be no bail out money for people when it comes to school, you should know what your are getting into before you make the decision on where you go and what degree you get…I also was smart with my 65K, Finance and Account degree which I could have got cheaper. I also don’t feel that its the parents responsibility to pay for your child’s education. My parents could not afford to set aside 50 a month for me and my brother back when they had us. I am grateful that they put a roof over my head, feed me, put clothes on my back, loved, supported and taught me as I grew. They gave me a life long education without having to pay for it. As far as my own kids, I will set aside money for them for an education to help them out, but it will be different. I won’t tell them about it, make them work there way through school and when they graduate and earn the degree, pay there school of then for them.

the big flaw there is that your kids will think you’re a giant dick for being successful and not helping out. (assuming your success)

:mamoru: thats a good one

I would agree with theblue, If they don’t love out of high school, they will out of college. I just put a nice chunk into 529 for my 6 month old

didn’t even think about the interest, good call

I’de buy a sick car or boat with the money if the kid ends up bailing on college

I think by facts you should try looking up the definition of socialism first.

Damned if you do damned if you don’t. If Obama let the financial sector completely implode everyone would blame him for not acting aka Hoover. Since he continued the Bush policy of loaning money to large sectors of the economy now you are calling him a socialist.

I guess in your mind it would be better to simply have 25% unemployment then to have any gov’t involvement.

Well i’ll play it by ear then…as of now, I make OK money and I am single. So when I have a kid, I will worry about it.

+1

Loans were for school and school only. I paid off what I could from the start and took a loan for the rest.

On October 14, 2008, Secretary of the Treasury Paulson and President Bush separately announced revisions in the TARP program. The Treasury announced their intention to buy senior preferred stock and warrants in the nine largest American banks.
Yep. Facts. How bout that. Carryon in your ignorance.

My parents make really really good money and they could easily have paid for my schooling, but I told them no. It’s their money. Now I have 30K in debt and I’m proud of the fact that I am paying my own school debt.(not that I wouldn’t take a Gov check if it was offered)

you are retarded

you should have taken the money from your parents and then paid it back interest free.

:fail: :picard:
