Though I’ve fallen out of love with autocrossing I’ll definitely put it above 1/8 mile drag racing and 1/4 mile drag racing if you’re in anything that runs slower than 11.00.
Autocrossing would be great if it weren’t for the fact that 99% of the time you’re not racing and have to blow an entire day for 5 minutes of seat time.
I’ve had 2 fwd cars that had a good amount into them. I had an 07 Si that was supercharged and a 2g with a 35R setup. Although I enjoyed certain aspects of both cars I could really never go back to them for the sole reason that they were fwd. Next car I buy will most definitely be rwd and the XI can be the winter car.
Sure some civics look ok, and they can be cheap auto-x cars or highway warriors, but wouldn’t a cheap rwd do the same things in a much more interesting and fun fashion.
You can buy a really fast mustang for under $10k, I mean if people still consider trapping 130 in the 1/4 fast. Not a beater either, a well built solid car. Or if you want balance and handling you get a 3 series or s2000 for under $10k. Plenty of honda guys have ended up sinking more than that into their cars anyways. Do you want to be rolling on a car with $10k into so that when it is stolen(which is likely given it’s a honda) you only get a check for $2500 cause it’s 14 years old.
It is funny though how honda people try and act like they are above the other shit boxes being modded. Hell, my cobra is a shit box, the only difference is that it’s never seen salt and has no rust, and it is rwd and exponentially more fun to drive than a civic.
at this point autoX is like a hot chick telling me that I can fool around with her, but only for 40 seconds at a time and probably only 4 times today, the rest of the time I get to watch other dudes have their turn.
drag racing is like her saying I can have sex, but only in the missionary position, no foreplay, and it had better be fast.
So you buy your cars to be investments and your proud because you don’t loose money ont your Hondas? Everyone knows they are going to loose money on your cars because cars are NOT investments. we buy them because we want to enjoy them not because we are worried about how much we can sell them for later :ham:
I feel like I should change my poll choices. Because I don’t think ALL domestics aren’t cool. Just a majority of them. But then again, I like haggard 20 year old piece of shit german cars, so I guess I can’t talk.
That being said, I really only like tasteful mods, or mods that actually give you power, and aren’t in a car that is rusting away. None of this shitty body kit crap, and wings, and whatever other nonsense I’ve seen on neons/civics/stratus’/saturns/cobalts/tibruons/etc.
Oh, and fart cans.
But I’ve pretty much been saying/thinking this since before I could drive. I feel like this thread was made in 2005.
modded Taurus? I think I catch more shit for having my car then anybody else on here. It is expensive, difficult to tune, unreliable, no aftermarket, heavy… it is comfy though. It did run 12’s for a couple years though.
I did learn a lot though, and at the end of the day can you really put a price on education?
no im saying i can buy a car, drive it for 10,000 miles and sell it for the same or more than i paid for it… try doing that with any shitbox mustang… and yes i said that, ive driven enough of them and i only respect 03 cobras and the older “real” mustangs like my dads 69’
cars arent an investment, but if i can buy somethign and sell it 6 months to a year later and not lose money than why not
i will agree there are more pos ones than nice ones
but when someone can run 10’s get 35 mpg, for less than 5,000 and not lose a penny on another brand is the day i will switch cars
