we are going to do a simple proof. we are going to change a repeating decimal to a fraction. anyone taking college level math should know how to do this.
let x = .999~
mult both sides of the equation by 10
10x = 9.999~
subtract the original equation, leaving you with
9x = 9 (the repeating part is removed)
divide by 9
x = 1
thats the proof.
you can argue all you want, but i called my old man to confirm… he’s a math teacher. as a matter of fact, i think someone on the forum is/was in one of his classes.
