that logic is flawed. you cannot say “this has been Mathematically PROVEN as being equal due to it being impossible to prove wrong.”
that would be like saying, “it is proven that there IS a god, due to it being impossible to prove that there isn’t.” or, “the soul lives on after he body dies, because you can’t prove that it doesn’t.”

IMO…if they wanted .99999999 to equal one than just say 1=1…
its been awhile since i’ve done math… but… how do you get from:
- x = -0.999…
to
9x = 9.000… = 9
?
to get from - x = - 0.9999~ to the next step, you would have to multiply both sides by -9. when you do so, you can’t multiple -9 by -0.9999~ because it will only give you an approximate #, it will NOT give you 9. it’s impossible to multiply that without rounding.
and like sureshot said, 1/3 does not equal .3333~
1 does NOT equal 0.9999~ there is a place for 0.9999~ on the number line, and it is IMMEDIATELY TO THE LEFT of 1.0.
