well i’ll be damned…they must have modified that sometime recently… in general NYS is a lot tougher on architecture and professional practice laws than most states… although now reviewing the PA break down on NCARB you can go the experience route here as well…9 years total- which is a joke, but i didn’t think you could even go that way a couple of years ago
well then if you got the time to get the experience no reason not to try out the experience + BS Arch route…
Yeah. Like I said I had a great job before I graduated, so I see no reason not to go this route. Also keep in mind there are two sets of experience requirements, the IDP and your states individual experience requirements, which in the case of NYS is 5 years.
I’m in the same boat as Carl(Vq30de)… B.S.Arch w/IDP…however I only logged 6 months at a firm, and then went 1.5yrs without a job in the field, and now NCARB is giving me a really hard time recording experience now. (FML)
Well I’ve been thinking and I may do some contracting instead. I know a few contractors and my grandpa use to have his own business so I could get some pointers from them.
I guess it will all just have to pan out, who knows what direction I’m going to go in.
you could try a construction management degree… get to work on buildings, get to be involved with the contracting but you get to avoid a good deal of the bullshit working for a CM
