Probably about once a month my grandpa calls me because his Windows XP install shit the bed. It’s starting to get kinda old, and the big reason I suspect is that he ALWAYS runs REALLY outdated software. Like Windows 3.1 programs that come with Windows NT drivers n shit. I’ve warned him that this is bad practice, and that he needs to update to something else.
Does anyone have any proof that this is bad? Like I know it is, but something written that I can show him. Like “Running AutoCAD for Windows 2.5 may cause problems in Vista.”
Well, aside from the obvious updated for better functionality and better coding.
3rd party programs can be the gateway for viruses, what not. just google like “third party exploits” and that should be enough for him to be like OMG i need to update. Updated versions tend to adress these exploits. Sometimes making new ones… but they address the previous
