The death of Windows XP may have been greatly exaggerated.
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said the company could re-evaluate its plans to phase out Windows XP by June 30, if customers demand that it stick around. So far, they have not.
“XP will hit an end-of-life. We have announced one. If customer feedback varies, we can always wake up smarter, but right now, we have a plan for end-of-life for new XP shipments,” Ballmer said during a Thursday news conference in Belgium, according to Reuters.
I don’t know why so many people dislike vista so much, I haven’t had any issues with it at all (except finding x64 specific software/drivers in certain cases). Maybe people running it on old machines?
at any rate, looks like they might not phase XP out just yet
Because a huge portion of the windows user base is retarded. They see a new OS released so they run out and buy it. They run the upgrade install on their old POS that so full of spyware, viruses and programs that run at startup that XP was barely stable and then they bitch that Vista is worse.
They’re the same people that bitch about XP after installing every useless peice of shareware they can find that all loads some garbage at startup.
the only gripe i have about vista is that the dreamscene sucks, it constantly crashes on me and sometimes makes the computer crash. i turned it off the other day and have not had a problem since
did you get the new content pack they released a few days ago? ^
now that you mention it, I did have a problem with dreamscene pre-sp1 where it caused some of the pixels on my monitor to display blue for whatever reason… it was strange.
yeah, they should really have made Vista not let you install it on a machine that couldn’t handle it. If you install it on a POS or upgrade something full of spyware, its going to beat the hell out of your machine. Then you tell 50 people how much it sucks.
I think some of the blame goes to the manufacturers that sold boxes with integrated graphics as “vista premium ready”. Then people wonder why it looks like shit even though they’re on a new machine, when all they need is a $50 graphics card.
