Dog Owners inside... Dog Food Question/Poll

may switch to RAW when he’s older, he’s only 8months right now.

I don’t feed it and somehow it doesn’t die…

feed my dog beneful (sp) and he’s always been regular/does not rip ass much at all.

i’ll occasionally drop left overs in his bowl with his food also.

should also note he has eaten plastic bottles, entire trays of chocolate, 1 gallon container of cream based soup that spilled on the floor (he did proceed to barf that up and then lay on the ground and loathe life for about 6 hours). so my dog is a bad example because he apparently has the stomach of a goat.

+1
The high protein stuff (grey hound/whippet mix) that doesnt have alot of fillers
13 yrs old and still looks about 5

Mine loves bread. As in, entire loaves of bread if we forget and leave one out where he can get it. SOB ate half a dozen donuts about a month ago too. Only scare we had was when he ate about 3/4ths of a bottle of tums. I called the vet and they said to force him to drink some hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting. They said a tablespoon or two should be enough and it would be almost immediate. 2 tablespoons and few minutes and nothing. Pried his mouth open, jammed the bottle in, forced a good chug down there and about 10 seconds later he’s projectile vomiting up piles of tums all over the back yard. Now when he sees me going into the medicine cabinet he gets all nervous.

Just curious about the harm tums can do a dog?

You know, I don’t really remember what they were concerned about. I just remember they said get him to vomit and use peroxide. Looking online I see some vets saying tums overdoses shouldn’t really be a problem.

Purina Beneful

Blue Buffalo, If I could find Orijen locally in decent quantity - I’d feed him that.

we give “sid” Ceaser’s and gravy train.

I give my dogs Pedigree, they dont test on animals like a lot of the ones mentioned.

that made no sense.

↑Why not?

Science Diet here

Sunday he gets bacon grease on his breakfast, that’s about it for “human food” that i give him. The g/f gives him leftovers now and then though.

It used to be a raw diet/dehydrated deal we got from some hippie place up in the city of Rochester. That got expensive, almost more expensive for our two dogs (30# and 40#)than my wife and I for one week. Now we get something from Lori’s Natural foods and the dogs love it. They lost a lot of weight after ditching the Science Diet we started both of them on going to either one of the new foods we feed them. Shiny coats, no terrible gas, no floor scooting, and the vet says they are perfect weights.
