SOUTH UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. – A Fayette County man has been issued a very unusual sentence after pleading guilty to strangling his dog.
Instead of paying a fine or going to jail, Ulysses Zimmerman will stand at a busy intersection holding a sign that reads “animal cruelty is a crime.”
County Humane Officials came up with the idea after Zimmerman claimed he had no money and did not want to go to jail.
Zimmerman will stand at the intersection of McClellandtown Road and Matthew Drive in South Union Township Thursday and will perform other community service at another time.
