Simultaneous launch in all markets is proving to be a huge pain in the balls for them. Don’t think that was the best plan.
L-FUCKING-OL
If you swing for the fences on everything, the other guy with more modest and realistic goals will beat you to the punch. As long as it beats the previous system my a good margin in terms of performance and graphics, who cares?
The people who care are the ones who can’t get the system right away. I guess based on preorders MS is worried that they can’t fill all the orders. We will see though.
If I had to choose between a system that is not even available yet or a preorder on another that is out, I would definitely choose a preorder. I think many people would agree with me. As far as anyone knows, the PS3 is vaporware.
I think what Jay is saying (and I could be wrong) is that not everyone is going to Rush into stores in a few weeks to be “the 1st kid on the block with an Xbox 360”…
And if that’s the case, availbility & timeframe is not a big issue.
On the other hand, MS & Sony both rely more on the people that will be buying systmes ASAP. These are the “Gamers” that truly support them by buying every game, or every extra, et cetera.
Tks, I think that was one of my best posts here
x2. the only console games i like are sports and racing games.
any fps without mouse/keyboard just doesnt cut it.
auto-aim? what kinda game uses that shit.
The hardware is secondary to the software. If the Xbox 360 hasn’t got any good titles, I won’t ever buy one, just like I never bought an Xbox for the same reason. As was previously stated, FPS are the domain of the PC, as are RTS games. Arcade translations, sports games, driving games, platform games, etc are the domain of the console.
There are way too many good FPS games out there with solid online play to put up with playing Halo and the like with those retarded controllers.
Sony’s PS3 sales will be driven (no pun intended) by people who want GT5. I know I don’t care at all when the system comes out, because it is useless to me until GT5 is finished.
We’ve all seen XP, why the hell would you want an XBox360.
Seriously, and no offense, but this (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1085739&CatId=0) + PC > console for driving, sports, etc…
I agree on the GT5 point, but I dont think that it alone justifies the $300 console.
$0.02
Consoles have a longer life than PC’s do… Sorry to say, if you want to keep playing good games and not have to worry about your hardware being good enough, buy a console…
^^ maintenance wise? or technology life-span, wise?
I am just of the school of thought that most of us have $400-1400 invested in a PC anyhow. Why spend the extra $300-500 on a console & accessories?
I run an off the shelf Dell (i upgraded: P-IV 2.xghz, 2gb ram, vid card) & an homemade AMD based CPU at home and either one can easily smoke the PS2 I have. With another $2-300 I’m confident that it’d keep up with the next gen. as well.
But then again, I’m not a “hardcore” gamer. If / and / or when I buy a 360 or PS3 it’ll be played ~2-4 hours a week, if that.
Actually I was saying something kind of opposite of that. The demand for 360 seems to be very high. And from what I understand its higher than MS had anticipated. With them trying to launch the system in Japan, US, and Europe at the same time rather than spread out over the course of several months like most systems, people are concerned that there will be a huge shortage of product.
This could cause major delays in the next run of systems to come out giving Sony time to solidify their system’s plans and perhaps win people over who were ready to buy the 360 upon its release. I forget who I heard it from but I guess MS is biting off a little more than they can chew with the global launch.
LOL, sorry bout that then.
Its cool. I didn’t explain it very well the first time.
I definately see that the demand is high for 360. Every game store I have gone to in the last month I have asked if I could get a reservation for one and I was told that they met their quota and then some. I am on a call list at GameStop in the event that they get extra systems shipped to them. I am also about 25 people down on the list. Probably not going to happen.
nah… fanboy talk is good. Your a Sony fanboy… so your already biased.
Actually I’d be more than willing to race either of you… I’ll put my 15sec car up against your… seemingly… sub 15sec cars, ANY-DAY-OF-THE-WEEK :shoot:
I didn’t say XBOX, or the 360 weren’t quality… but just imagine the PS3 being a superior machine. because it was released 6 months late, the market is no longer feining for their gaming fix… and the sales won’t be there.
Your both wrong… again
Console’s do not have longer lives than PCs. If you buy a top notch PC, or make one at the time of the release of the PS3 or 360… by the time Sony or Microsoft releases their next gen gaming machine… your PC will be able to play just about any game on the market. The only time a PC is outdated is when you buy a so-so PC and expect it ot keep up with the games 2 yrs from now… good luck.
Nick - Your running a 2.* processor… though that may hold up now, and maybe some of next year… your going to need a 3.4+ if you want to keep up, and I don’t know what vid card your running, but 128mb cards will be a thing of the past soon as well. I know, cause I’m in the same boat. Your def not a hardcore gamer, your not nerdy enough…oh wait… yes you are… Why aren’t you a hardcore gamer?
You guys both suck.
PC Games run better with better hardware. If you are a law abiding citizen and don’t steal your games off the internet, the cost of a console is ALOT cheaper than the cost of a good gaming machine. The only way a computer is better than a TV is monitors are non-interlaced (until HD console games come out if they aren’t already) and they are cheaper than a good TV set. Size for size, that might not be the case but you aren’t typically going to sit in front of a TV as you are a computer monitor.
The Xbox had a reign of about 3.5 years. Find me a 3.5 year old computer (costing ~$500) that will play today’s games without any sort of upgrades and I will show you an honest politician.
:word:
Your not going to have a nice comp for 600 bux.
But back in the day when XBOX was released… you couldn’t surf the net any other way.
A PC is a tool… more so than an entertainment machine. hours vs hours… i have about a million more on my PC.
microsoft just makes a superior gaming console, thats wat it comes down to. beyond the games and gameplay the xbox360 has a ton of other features that make this thing more of a media center then a gaming console. If they are moddable i will be getting one and modding it the second the chips are available.
If I had a running car, I would have…
You can probably get a $5000 computer that will still be good in 3.5 years, but how can that be a better alternative than buying a console at %10 of the cost that plays games just as good. I want apples to apples here on cost, Jackinthebox…
