Not many people are as plugged in as you and I, Action Jackson… For those who play games and only play games, Console > PC when you factor in cost as being a large portion of the decision making. Not only that, but each console is exactly the same where (no matter how many times they say it, "100% PC compatible) there are always issues with some piece of hardware not working well with another piece of hardware, plain and simple…
Way too much to quote so:
Jack - I’ll race You anytime. I have no qualm’s about losing. I’ve admitted, MANY TIMES to rocking a trailblazer and a non-running toy car. If You wanna call that sub-15 seconds… I’ve gotta a bridge for sale. I’ve a 256mb AGP8x vid card coming for the Dell via UPS as I types (ordered it two days ago from TD.com). The AMD has a 128mb AGP8x. No, I’m not a huge gamer. I could care less about seeing the sweat on the not-real charactors in the GAME that I maybe playing.
Rubicant - Good points. But again, I’m not a hardcore gamer and refuse to spend $1400 on a video card just to play a game. Same as I would not spend anything more then $400 on a game console & immediatly associated equipment. In the same light, my $300 32" tv works fine. The Xbox’s 3.5 timeframe is great, and yes they were releasing new games the whole way, but all of these games were designed to be played on the 3.5 year old architechture.
Exxxxxxxxxxxxxactly.
I think if you are a hardcore gamer and don’t have the cash to drop $3000 on a pc every 1.5 years, then you have no other alternative than to drop $400 on a console and a crapload of games. Hardcore + money is going to yeild a computer over a console anyday. HOWEVER, you can’t beat the setup that Xbox live has made. Not everyone is computer savy to setup online play as organized as Xbox live servers are, etc. There are tradeoffs. I will say this, hardcore gamers (who have the cash) who love FPS’s will choose a PC over a console anyday. Mouse + Keyboard > Controller/Joystick…
truce? lol
edit
We can go round & round about this for a couple of days and end up right back here.
Everyone, 100% of the market, has their own reasons for the method they use. Some people will convert to/from a console from a pc & vice-versa. Just as some people will convert to/from a 360/PS3 and so on.
I was an avid PS1 & PS2 supporter, swearing off the Xbox1 in the early days. But as support grew for the Xbox, I warmed to it. Still having never purchased my own, I’m thinking of purchasing a Xbox (when the time comes - not OMG ASAP) because of the support / hackability and stated capabilities (outside of gaming) that it offers.

I work at a game store and this is my take.
In todays market it is impossible for a system to fail.
Why you may ask?
The market is to damn big and to maybe people will buy any system microsoft / sony / nintendo crank out.
If a new commer were to try and join the market now, they would be fucked.
Both systems will sell
and we will be in the same place we are right now with games.
Sony on top due to the large amount of developers and huge following
Microsoft will not be top dog for much longer than this holiday season. They only have a large following in North America and just not enough games to have a wide enough appeal
Nintendo is a wild card to me because the new system they are launching has been very vague in details but due to the ultra backwards combatabilty, it might outsell ps2 and the 360. (keep in mind this system is alos lauching ~200 dollars and will play everything.
This is what i think and is based on talking to crazy bastards everyday for the past year of my life. I have heard every possible thing that can be said to “win” this argument of which system is the “best”
Deal with it kids, each one has it perks and suits different gamers.
and as far as being a pc gamer (me)
There is no way in hell you need to drop anywhere near 3000 on a compy every 1.5 years.
My computer plays FEAR smoothly with everything on high and was built 8 months ago for ~ 500 dollars. If you are not a fucking moron, this is easy.
ultra nerd out.
:bsflag:
Take anything theinquirer says with a grain of salt. PSX and PS2 games will work on the PS3.
You mean the GayCube isn’t a failure?
Hopefully this holiday, my wife’s uncles son (did you follow that?) comes to visit. He lives in California and is a big-wig for Playstation.
He gets to try out the games 6+ months before they even come to market and makes a lot of the final decisions for Playstation.
I thought he was bullshitting me when he first told me, but he is legit.
As for me, I’m not a huge gamer. Not enough free time to play them. I just got an XBox and bought Burnout 3 for it
I’m going to have to disagree with you there… there will be plenty of sales there. There will be both the Sony diehards who just want Sony… there will also be those potential customers that are not buying a 360 until PS3 is released to see which they think they should go with. There are also the millions that wait until these highly priced systems drop in price to become more affordable.
i think gheycube was a pyle…i have one 4 sale if anyone wants it. but if Nintendos new systew will playeverything as in like old school 8bit and N64 then i might also pick one of them up
Rubi - You have sweet names for me, is that cause you love me?
nik - your too nice… of course this conversation can go around and around, if it didn’t we would all either have a sweet PC, or console and the world would end.
you all suck.
and that gay blue box is killing me. we don’t care
Too bad Xbox360 has no HD DVD capability… I dont know how they are going to have HD games with no HD DVD. Maybe the games will be really short. I"m still debating 360 or PS3
Pet names for you because you’re my sweetie… :hay:
That invalidates everything else You said
Nuke FTW?
:word:
WTF Was this post about?
shit, from what I’ve seen… ps3 looks great  I’ll be buying one
