This is how I spent my Monday. :E Bell took a few reporters up on a media tour of Edmonton, Sherwood Park and St. Albert and I was lucky enough to go. Here’s a few of the 200 and some pics I took.
The Bell Lightship.
The ascent.
Thrust.
Downtown E-town.
Esso Refinery
Sherwood Park’s Centre in the Park
Suburbia
FR Haythorne school in Sh Pk
Sh Pk in the foreground, refineries, and Downtown Edmonton near the back. The dark spot is a cloud.
A lonely little man riding a tractor. I had the camera hanging out the window for that shot.
The crazy American guys who keep the blimp from floating away.
It was like riding in a boat on choppy water. We hit a lot of thermals, so it was a bit of a bumpy ride. It was also weird to be in an aircraft with the windows open! And since the helium makes the blimp continuously rise, it has to do hardcore nose dives to keep its altitude. We were at about 1,000 feet travelling about 42 mph. It was an awesome experience.
It would be easy to flyer cars from a blimp, I just don’t know if car owners like flyers taped to bricks. Also I saw that blimp saturday I think, or was it sunday I dunno.
