Download Free Legal Copy of Windows 7 beta ( 32 bit or 64 bit ) tomorrow from MS

^ yeah, either that or put 7 on a seperate HDD, and just turn that channel off in the BIOS when you aren’t using it.

that sucks it took over your XP install

I did that with Mandrake, XP, and Longhorn a few years ago. :nerd:

I would if all my apps install correctly. I am not afraid of the bleeding edge

I won’t bitch 24/7 tho when it crashes or something doesn’t work correctly either becuase I understand its a beta. Haha

There we go. Had to get back into 7 and remove my documents from 7’s documents library. Now I can access my documents in XP again. Probably some sort of sharing setting got fux0r3d. I’ll keep playing with it.

Desktop widgets are a neat shot over Apple’s bow.

Fry are you coming from XP or Vista?

I would be interested to hear if anyone went from Vista to this and if its worth it.

XP. Vista’s like dating a fat chick just to get the big titties.

I went from Vista to 7. Really it just feels like Vista that has been tweaked in all the right areas and sprinkled with some new features. At work, we’re still on XP. Going from 7 back to XP feels like I’m in the goddamn stone age.

OK so I found out the copy we had didn’t come from tech net. So I am getting an official version now and will be installing it as primary on a C2D notebook with 2 Gigs RAM. We’ll see how it goes.

Ya. We use XP at work for compatibility issues and becuase some people that work for us screw up computers daily but I have Vista at home and I was against it but I really like it.

I might give it a upgrade to windows 7 when I test it on a VM to make sure everything I use and need in Vista works correctly.

sofar its working great. A lot of the things I had to fight with vista to work, just work in 7. Simple things like Ethernet drivers. I think the only thing it hasn’t picked up on is the broadband adapter built into the notebook, but thats not a surprise.

The lowest score this notebook got was for the HDD performance. everything else scored top notch.

Its a Dell latitude E6500

I’m impressed.

T9400 2.53Ghz

intel

Lenovo T400 lap

i’ll check it out tomorrow… but i’m definately just setting it up as a virtual machine. i guarantee i’m going to hate it after 30 minutes :stuck_out_tongue:

So my Primary XP just decided that it should stick its penis in its asshole and fucking die after over a week of me trying very hard to restore it after a nasty virus! Should I just reload XP sp3, or should I dump windows 7 on and go from there? Is anyone that installed this beta still using it on a regular basis?

I personally hate SP3, I had a bunch of problems with it. I guess I’d go with Windows 7 and get your feet wet.

I have to at least start with XP as explorer.exe became corrupted and I can not burn Windows 7 on to a disk

RIT is running a full fledged usability test on the new OS in the Spring quarter class of Usability Testing. Gus Weber, an ex-employee of RIT, now works for Microsoft so he set us up with the opportunity. It’s a pretty cool thing to have them as our university to run the test.

I haven’t heard much about the OS yet, I wonder how it will be?

Can you run any spyware, virus, malware programs in safe mode? That might take care of them.

Is anybody using this still? If so, how do you like it?

I am using it on a regular basis, and have had almost no issues with it. The only odd thing that it does is go to sleep and wake up randomly.

I am on build 7057 and have 7068 to upgrade to when my new notebook comes in. I love it! It runs really smooth on my Dual Core Turion 64 w/ 3GB DDR2. Can’t say enough good things about it.
