Drifters, do you guys hate Corolla AE86s??

I guess I wasn’t even really thinking about the drifting aspect, more just vehicle dynamics in general. I would trade my Z right now for a decent condition AE86.

I think were all jaded and angry seeing a really shitty driver pull off a huge drift…with nothing other than a good car. A Corolla takes way more skill to drift, and the learning curve is wayy higher.
Give me a 240, I’ll slide the hell out of it! Give a 240 owner a Corolla…I doubt he would even get it sideways. 240 guy: “oh, this car sucks, it’s got no power”

Power over isin’t the only way to drift.

Anyway, I’m just ranting. Sorry if i’ve pissed anyone off. Didn’t mean too.

Keep it coming!

No. Thats what i’m saying. You don’t need power :!:
Thats the statment that drives me nuts!
Balance is essential for drift. Not a completly stock car with 300hp.

Well, if that statement is true then they’re both more or less equal, because I believe both cars roll in at 50/50 weight distribution.

Depends on what you value in a drift. If you like drifting because it takes skill, then of course skill > power, if you like cars that look cool, then of course a 500 WHP drift car burning the tires off is cool. This whole argument is silly.

Can you drift without the extra power? Yes. Will it be as much fun? I doubt it. Who cares anyway, since when does something that someone does with THEIR car matter to you anyway?

I see a lot of low powered cars in 1st 2nd and 3rd in the formula D sarcasm

You’re right, power isn’t evething. What I meant by that is you need power to the extent I’m thinking. Corolla are good for drifting a smaller radius course. But if have a huge ass corner like corner #1 at Stratotech, I doubt ANY stock corolla would be able to make it through that corner sideways the whole way. That all had trouble making it through the last corner at the Drift event at Stratotech. Big corners long corner are in need of power. Small corners are just fine for 80whp monsters.

If I had good entry speed from the front straight, turn one would have been easy. not to mention hella fun lol momentum, not power, is what was needed there.

At the comp, turn 3 of the course was nearly impossible for me to pull off. I would always run out of juice at the end of turn 2. having an ebrake that actually worked would have helped too.

Less power = more fun. True true.

All your problems can fixed with power, get some money, and fix your problem! Remember the majority people who have responded here don’t drift. I think you are trying to compare something that you have a passion for which has nothing to do with either vehicle.

i can compare my friends 1.8T to mine to my other buddies 400HP SRT-4, and mine is still more fun to drive. why? maybe because it’s lighter.

less power = more fun? no. less weight = more fun

bingo.
Driving a corolla has pretty much set me against any other car. Nothing else i’ve ever driven is so responsive…and just fun!

V8Less is this saturday at RaceCity…I’ll be briving my friend Alvins 4agze (supercharged) Blue hatch (The one from Tuner Transformation…If anyone remembers). Mine won’t cut it with the stock engine.

When I get some more power…I will still never turbo. I can’t stand any type of lag. (Jaded lol)

Corolla owner -passionate about driving
240 owner - passionate about cars

What you have wrote is a generalization based on the people you know, not based on anybody on this forum.

Yeah. Please take up a new hobby - like dying in a fire. :E

Not sure how you think generalizations are going to work here. I’ve loved cars since I was a little kid, and been driving on the road since I was 10, long before I ever knew what an AE86 or 240sx were. How does that fit into your plan?

For that matter, what do those generalizations have to do with your original question? Not trying to start a flame war here, but man if you think you can get away with that stuff without anyone saying anything…

I don’t understand what the problem here is. No need to say he can’t post here or should “die in a fire”…

Everyone is entitled to their opinions on the forum, regardless if its a generalization or not.

well, that may be true in the case that 240 owners can already drive and are moving up while 'rolla owners still need to learn to drive. 8)

it’s all in good fun though man. i think some guys on here are taking it a little too seriously.

Would’ve been nice to see a few more powerful cars at the SCC drifting this past saturday. A large part of the drifting sport is to do with impressing the crowd, and doing that requires a lot more than a stock ae86 can provide, no matter how talented the driver. It just wasn’t that fun to watch a bunch of corollas barely kick out the back end around 90 degree tuns…I mean you could tell what was fun to watch by the crowds reaction…Andre went round in his skyline smoking his tires like crazy, crowd went nuts…Jesse put together some sweet high speed slides with his 240, crowd loved it…stock corolla comes round and the crowd does nothing. Not that they’re not good drivers, but the car can only do so much. The blue corolla and speedtechs white one were wicked, but the other 3 were a bit tame if you ask me.

The Blue corolla did kick ass. 180whp anyone!! (Still didn’t smoke tires much…to light, all season tires)
It was next to impossible for me not to win with that thing.
Once again…The 86 has claimed another 240 victim!!! bwhahaha It was hella close though, Jesse rocks. Christian in the Cressida was looking really good too.

My buddy Dave (aka, the wonder kid) was driving my maroon coupe.

Anyway, this has been great. Some of you guys ARE taking this way to seriously. You guys can die in a fire. :finga:
I don’t make generalizations, Some of you guys are great! Care enthusiasts to the max…but for the most part (from the people I’ve randomly ran into), you guys are complete duchebags that only know how to power over…and power over…oh! whats this! a power over? yes yessss!!! power over!!! yesssss :vom: I need a bigger turbo so I can drift !!! ahhh power over!!! :vom: :vom: yeesssss!

I’m going to go die in a fire now.

Why do you even care? You should spend less time whining about how other people “drift” and do something productive with your time instead of purposely starting shit on a forum where your ignorant little opinion is severely outnumbered. Go become the drift master and be an idol for others to look up to, then maybe people will take you a little more seriously. An opinion is one thing but there’s no reason to start throwing insults. I doubt you’d appreciate it if I went and joined club4ag, club dorifto, club takumi, etc and said I hated all of you because you drive piece of shit toyotas.

its obvious you’ve never driven a properly set up turbo car

corolla’s have their up sides, so do s13’s, i don’t see why there would be any hate between the two groups.

I already am.
