i was wondering if anyone would allow me to sit shot-gun in their car and record a chase scene with my camera and small tripod?(doesn’t have to be a chase) im just looking for more angles, different types of footage, and to actually meet some of the drivers iv been filming for every drift ops event this year.

Well, it looks like some of the O.G. DriftOps members will be coming out.

That being said, we will have more staff and will be able to manage pits and flagging on both sides.

bring a helmet. chase cars are usually grip-style driving btw. just letting you know.
I’m not one of these drivers nor coming to this event cause my car doesn’t start.
People 90% of the time will not have a problem with you sitting in as long as you provide your own helmet and you provide them with the footage afterwards.

yeah i bring my helmet so i can ride in my bro’s car when hes drifting. such a rush! ive been making mini films of each event and sharing it on the net.

its more for fun, and nowhere close to being professional. i dont have the programs to make high quality vids, i use windows media maker cuz its all i have. you can make suggestions if you like, im just letting you know its pure amateur video recording and video editing.

lol ok in that case, I’ll just say that it might be good idea to get a clamp with the right pitch thread for your camera so you could clamp it onto harness bars of cars for interior filming, and if you really want some crazy chase, mount your camera on the front/hood/roof of the chase car…if you can live with the risks lol! If you can’t do any of that maybe try to atleast bring a monopod with you because I’ve been in your position and I know how hard it is to hold a camera freehand trying to record when you’re sitting shotgun on the track.

There are more and more newbies coming out these days which is fantastic! Just so you all know, we have experienced instructors on hand for anyone looking for beginner and advanced training. Just come see me and I will hook you up with someone.

TECH INSPECTIONS

Also, we will be doing tech inspections of all vehicles before they will be allowed on the track.
This should not be something to worry about because all of your cars are safe and well maintained to begin with… right??!
We’re really just checking for leaks and loose objects. The last thing we need is to have:

  • shit leaking all over the track
  • cars burning because they left their gas can inside
  • wheels falling off
  • hatches falling off

TIMING

Again, I would like to have all drivers at the track and ready by 8:30am for the drivers meeting and make full use of the track time.
