DRL Wiring

Hey guys,

As you may already know, the 89-90 models have the fog light-looking DRLs.

These lights turn off right after the whole instrument panel + headlights are lit (basically, the full turn of the light knob).

I wanted to ask if anyone knows how to wire these up to say on while the pop-ups are on.

I really like the 4-light look, plus the blocky looking, not-so-bright fog-looking lights look so 80’s that I just love 'em…

So yeah, anyone know how to wire it up and have it stay on?

I had thought of wiring them along with the pop-ups, but I’d want for them to be on while they’re down, still functioning like normal DRLs.

Anyone have anymore insight on this?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

i can’t remember exactly how to do it, a friend showed me once… there is just one wire to cut for one of the relays in the fuse box by the battery. hopefully someone who has done it can chime in here.

Cool. Will wait for another user.

In the future, I also wanted the option of turning the DRLs on and off at my leisure. You know, so I can save the life of the bulbs (not needing to be on in the middle of the day time and not even get noticed).

id just splice a wire to the hot wire(positive) on the fog light to the hot wire on the headlight…

that way when power is sent to the fogs they light up, when power is sent to the headlights it splits causing both to be lit… even though the headlights will come on when the fogs are on you got nothing to worry about since there down…

or you could just say fuck it to the stock wiring, wire in a “in wire fuse” and go directly to battery then wire in a switch in the dash if u want to get fancy so u can shut em off

but if it is as simple as what simple mind says then cut the fuse… but ive seen so many hit and miss fuse cuts…

get a 20 dollar princess auto fog light set and use the harness then sell the fogs. it comes with all the wireing, diagrams and fuses and switches…
