I want to start playing on a click track at practice so we’re tight in the studio… I have ear muffs and i can wear earbuds under them, but i still lose the click in all the noise… I need more volume and more sound deadening.
I have a pair of koss headphones that I really like. I look for more sound deadening and less volume just to try and save what hearing I have left. Seins makes great ones from what I hear
Get some true in-ear monitors (like etymotics) and then wear regular hearing protection over them if you need it. Should be 20+ dB of deadening for the in-ear phones and about the same for good over-ear protection.
but he is also looking for headphones he can use for music. In-ear mons are great for shows, but IMO dont provide great sound quality for music listening outside the studio
The SQ is great on them (Etymotics and Shure is what I have experience with), if you can deal with the comfort issues. Some people love them, some hate them.
Any headphones with huge foam outsides I’ve found work great as far as dampening… for some reason I just love how drums sound when playing with them on lol
Exactly. I realllllly love how my drums sound. Then I put on some beefy headphones and they sound all kinds of better. These are the pair I have now: SteelSeries Siberia Gaming Headset - White … although they’re made for gaming, they sound absolutely fantastic… music through them is fucking unreal. Only problem is they don’t dampen out much sound at all, but I kind of like it when playing along to music because I still can pretty much hear how my drums are really sounding.
