I bet if you asked you would find out that it is NOT poor organization on the part of the Board and that there was a communication problem largely on the part of the event organizers and NOT the NECC.

Did you know that everyone trying to run this club has full time jobs, busy lives and are volunteering their time? Try to be a bit more empathetic and maybe offer to help rather than just criticise.
Your post could have been something like, “Whoa, five cars? What happened? Anything I can do to help?”

Actually I spoke with Aaron about this IN PERSON a couple of days ago, and I believe that there is a thread about some concerns already, and I know for a fact I’m not the only one who feels this way, at the last meet almost everyone had something negative to say. NO ONE from the club even bothered to contact DTP to confirm that we were going to have ANY cars in the show and one of the Organizers called Aaron to invite us to come into the show, but since no one contacted the organizers they only have/had room for 5 of our cars now. So yeah I do know what’s going on, we have all known about this show for well… the dates have been posted on DTP’s website for over half a year now, do I know what goes into running a club, yeah I do, it’s a helluvalota work, and obviously their is not enough communication going on, and it is leading to problems like this. This is pretty much the largest car show for the year in Edmonton and the club is only going to have 5 cars in it that is a concern to me and it should be to others as well. I really like the guys in this club, and not once have I not helped or offered to help with a single guys car who has asked for help when they have needed it in the FWD section. I’m not turning this into a flame war and quite honestly I was expecting a few comments like this, but just cause I said it in this thread and not this one:

doesn’t mean that what I am saying doesn’t hold validity, it’s dissapointing we are probably one of the best clubs in the city and we are going to have one of the smallest showings so yeah whatever I’m allowed to have my own opinion and I know how much I try to help this club grow I flyer cars everytime I can or wait and try to talk to the people in person, you don’t know me or what I try to do so don’t try to attack me I haven’t attacked anyone.

We get 7 track days in 3 months, what else do you want from a car club ?! Quit your hating on the organizers because they rather spend their limited time on stuff like track days (which is the real reason of owning a car, aka. tuning it and driving it to its potential) instead of car shows and flyers.
You want a guaranteed spot at every car show that comes to Edmonton ? very possible. Go talk to E-Z and your car will be in every show with a pack of 13 year old azns modeling it off…
Bah who cares it’s just a car show. I bet 90% of our members would prefer to drive rather than look at cars.

I find it extremely funny that people can come on here and critisize what this club has been doing. Barely any clubs in this city run track events let alone as many as we do. Why is that the ones that are whining are the ones that I barely see at any of the events that we hold. How about instead of sitting here on the internet bitching you lend a helping hand in organizing a few events. We (B.O.D) have put in a lot of hours to get these events up and running, taking time out of our busy schedules to do this so people can enjoy their cars.
I distinctly remember standing at DTP Calgary when Mike (silvia_s13) was talking to Mark Seto the organizer of DTP about having more cars in our booth for the DTP show. Mike then emailed Mark on June 12 letting him know that we wanted a bigger booth for the Edmonton show.If Mark decided to limit the # of cars we are allowed to enter,there is absolutely nothing we can do about it.
I’m with the crowd that likes the track events more. I could give a shit about the shows, personally. We had a limited number of cars at the Edmonton show last year, and booths that had more cars didn’t necessarily get a better showing than we did.
However, Nick, if you’re really concerned about something, how about PM’ing a BOD member? All of our contact numbers are listed as well, so a phone call could work as well. I’m not trying to shit on you, but you can’t point fingers and say BOD communication sucks when you don’t talk to the rest of us. (If Aaron doesn’t tell us what you guys talked about, obviously that’s out of your hands.)
So who is all still interested in putting their car in a 5 car booth? I guess DTP doesn’t want booths bigger than this, otherwise a club could put 50 cars in for free and take up all the space, since we don’t get charged per square foot.
A booth this size is just fine, considering the club pretty much does not benefit whatsoever from these shows. I think we have registered like 3 new members from all of the DTP shows, so this event isn’t the end-all-be-all for us.
If there isn’t interest, no hard feelings, we’ll just cancel our booth altogether.
As far as the scratches on the cars and what not. He pretty much just means, no dents or primers. Things of this nature. As long as it looks clean I guess.
Without the limitations, you get a car show full of E-Z Motorsports booths, with 50 cars in each booth, all with neon lights, cracked fenders, and unpainted body kits.
And yes, chasenyadown, you absolutely have a right to an opinion. Just make sure you’re getting all the facts before passing judgement. You obviously weren’t aware that almost NONE of the clubs are being given more space than 5 or 6 cars. and you got your info from a guy that’s been in Europe for six weeks 
Ask questions, get as much information as the board of directors has, THEN form an opinion.
Having said that, if you can justify WHY 5 or 6 cars isn’t enough, and correlate it to membership signups (the bottom line), I think you’ll see the board of directors is all ears. Until then, expect them to keep trying to please the majority with the resources they have.

It would be nice to see a couple of turbo’d Sentra’s, a couple of S13/S14’s, and a couple of Skylines.
