Dumb DMV question?

Yeah, likely straightforward and simple. Just want to amke sure.

I want to just transfer registration from the DSM to the MR2 to put the MR2 back on the road, and take the DSM off the road.

Do I need to bother taking the plates in? Or just fill out the form and write the plate number that I am tranferring?

Thanks for the answer. I am a noob when it comes to plate transfers.

When I was putting the plates from my old Jeep onto the Suby this past fall I took the plates in (back home always required visual of the plate) and the lady in the Cheektowaga DMV looked at me like I was a complete idiot.

Needless to say apparently up here they don’t require visual of the plate lol.
