My uncle offered to port the head on my eta but i was planning on doing the i head swap. would it be more beneficial/cheaper to port the eta head and upgrade the valve train or should i just do the i head swap?

the compression will still be pretty low with an i head and e block. i recommend a SETA block (88 eta engine, different pistons, higher compression ratio). but if you don’t want to source the block (not too hard to find) just wait for an ‘i’ head. just make sure you get everything else too (intake manifold, tb, sensors, fuel accessories, wiring harness (go motronic 1.3) dme (get a chip burned for your mods) etc.
if you want real advice, go m50. they can be found for 500 bucks, make more hp than any of the aforementioned motor setups, go in pretty easy (all info including wiring is on r3vlimited) and you have a ton of nice bells and whistles. 24 valves, 2 cams, hydraulic lifters, more hp and torque, etc.
