Does anyone have a spare power steering pump for an e46? I am going to order one online in the next few days, but I figured I’d try local first. I am pretty certain that my ps shaft sheared off, I’m not getting any fluid movement. At least my arms are swol so it’s not a huge deal…

Just go to a local parts store and buy one.
no drifting, the car is in storage, but I took it out this weekend to find this. It looks easy enough to replace, and I did read it was quite common.
The cheap dura last ones are $150+, where the used bmw ones online are $75 or so. I’d rather go used or rebuilt I think, unless I can get a pretty baller coupon.

Same thing happened to me 5 or 6 years ago.
It just happened while starting it up when the car was in storage. I assumed the fluid was just thick from the temperature or something, but I googled it and it’s a VERY common thing on this generation of BMW. The shaft breaks off inside so no fluid leaks out, the belt still spins the pulley, it just doesn’t move any fluid.
