eclipse turbo installation

Dont get auto, get stick it isnt hard or long to learn how tp drive stick, and dont look at places like auto trader or your penny saver for gsx’s. Check out http://www.dsmtuners.com/classifieds/ or dsmtrader.com, nycdsm.com/classfieds and ccdsm.net all those are great resources for great dsm’s they are all well taken care off for the most part and you buying it from an enthusiast not a ricer who butchered the car. and not bother with turboing the 420a motor from the non-turbo eclipse not worth it you get just about as much hp as a stock turbo’d (4g63 motor) eclipse/talon. Gl great cars that are sure to make you a mechanic within a year!

yes, turboing an n/a eclipse is easy… so is shaving a dick into the side of my head, but that doesnt mean you should do it.

how much did you spend, and how quick is your car now? your 97 eclipse probably runs a 16.7 stock, and now it probably runs a 15.5.

how do i know this, you may ask? because i was once a 19 year old foolish person, and did just this. those were my times beforehand, and afterwards. it was a “good” setup.

hahaha dude i spent maybe $1300 and yes the car probably does 16’s stock but the car is fast as all fuck now ill let u know this summer when i run it… dude look at the greddy car its an eclipse with a 420a… they picked it for a reason.

Greddy made a mistake or got the car for free would be my guess.

one of my buddies has a 420a he turboed. not too bad. he is running the stock 2.0L with a T3 this summer with ~8psi till fall when a 2.4L with SRT internals goes in.

the 420a isnt a bad turbo motor with rods and pistons. there are a handful of guys on www.2gnt.com with 400+whp. Megasquirt works well on those cars.

but the 4-speed auto on those cars isnt made for lots of power unless its built. its acutally a chrysler trans. the 3-speed chrysler used on other vehicles (neon etc) is a beast but the 4-speed isnt quite as easy to keep together with boost.

You can run 18-20psi safely on stock internals in any 4G63 and many people are into the 11’s on a completely stock block. What 420A is even close to that, stock for stock?

Yeah my buddy does 11.2 on street tires and BONE STOCK motor, he is shooting for the 10’s this year! Its hard for him because he dosen’t wanna put in a cage so he only gets one run in usualy. Dont let bad 4g63 owners fool you of its reliablity if you get your car give it 15-20 pounds of boost with out doing all the basic maintenance, yeah it blows easily, but as long as you treat the motor right it can handle allot more then almost any other STOCK 4 cyl motor out there, period!

see what you said, a handful of 2gnt guys are running 400whp. handful. 400whp is commonplace with the 4g63. oh, and also, it will cost you at least double to put up the same whp numbers using a 420a.

fast. i remember when i turboed my 420a how fast it felt. everyone that drove in it with me thought i would run at least a mid 13 :bloated: UNTIL I RAN A 15.4 :bloated: which is commonplace. yes, it feels faster, but it still isnt fast. who gives a shit that the greddy car is a 420a. i couldn’t care less.

i am dissing the 420a because it sucks when comparing it to the 4g63. bottom line. it is way more expensive to make any kind of RELIABLE power.
