Edelbrock vs Trick Flow?

Wise choice.

No offense Derrick… but dollar for dollar, you can’t beat the deal on AFRs that Chode got…

Nobody on this board who is fast runs Edelbrock heads.:roflpicard:

+1 for Ed, I’m running one of his LS1 cams it runs pretty good:)
But see what JT says, his shit runs good too.

also down for this year fun

If you want to do a nice N/A 302 go with a trickflow stage 1 cam (or stage 2 if you want but you might need to flycut your pistons for that) a GT-40 style intake(they make great torque, and I nice set of aluminum heads. I got my Eddys bec they were cheap. I you can I would splurg for AFR 185cc or Trickflows, I know I will be putting Trickflows on my big build.

my car dynoed 301rwhp 364rwtq on a Mustang Dyno with the Trickflow stage one cam, Turbular GT-40 upper and lower intake, and Edelbrock Performer 5.0 170cc heads with 1.90" intake valves and full exhuast… The car ran a best 13.1 in the 1/4 taking it easy on the stock t-5. A fox with my set up can hit easy high 12s.

Let me know if you have any more 5.0 questions.

roll racing breaks less shit … also gives a gauge as to who has the “faster” car… takes a lot of the variables out of the equation and leaves out most of the excuses.

:word:

+1 for roll racing
10 bolt for the loss

We’ll see about that.

I’m running one of his cams too. He does pretty good stuff.

Yeah, and negates the driver mod. No thanks.

dig/ roll whatever… im in :tspry:

was… that an official callout?

I’ll agree on the breaking less parts stuff, but not on the excuses part at all. Often times people set up these roll races and they have to run 2, 3, 4 times or whatever because so-and-so left early, missed 3rd, couldn’t hear the beep, whatever. The dragstrip eliminates that, plus you don’t have to have the other guy there that day (although it helps, and makes it more interesting).

The timeslip doesn’t lie, numbers are numbers.

:word:

yeah … Jesse’s car is slow …

LOL, Wow

Track times with edelbrock heads???

I got 12.4s with my edelbrocks…looking for 11s this year

but i will be going trickflow when i build a new motor

Those are nitrous numbers, right?

Boost and nitrous can make any head fast…dollar for dollar the AFR’s and Trick Flow’s are about as good as you can get out of the box for NA cars (again, is the OP’s car NA?), and can be had for pretty damn cheap nowadays.

13.1 on motor, with a better tranny this year i’m looking for a 12.9 on motor

car weighs 3500 with me so I think thats doing good with 301rwhp/364rwtq

In the 1/8 on a shitty shredd and reagan night at Lancaster, 8.0@ 102mph. Obviously not getting traction…

^Jesse, nice 1/8th! I’d love to see what your car pulls in the 1/4:)

Just for the hell of it, here’s a friend of mine with his coupe:

It’s pretty aggressive, and he’s still tweaking the suspension here and there, but so far his best run has been a 10.9 @ 122mph.

The combo is simple from a parts standpoint, but very well thought out:

306
TW heads
Anderson cam…think it’s an N41
RPM intake
stock cpu with an rpm extender
G-force T5
~3150 race weight
Gears, exhaust, etc.

Point is, NA 5 liters can move out. Like I said, his car is pretty aggressive, but tamed down mid/high 11’s are pretty easy to get with a good combo…good compression and the right cam seem to be the deal breakers on these cars so make such whatever head you pick up you don’t skimp on a cam that works best with it.

Thanks. I know people are gonna say its cause of the stroker motor, but last year’s setup was exactly the same except for the stroker motor and that 308 motor did 7.5 @ 98 mph… With edelbrock heads. The year before that, the motor was a 306 with a different cam, same heads and that motor went 7.69 @ 94 mph.
