Engine Compession Questions

Sup all,

Checking out a car later, and the compression of the engine is about 15% higher than factory spec. My first assumption is that there is carbon buildup in the cylinders, which is probably the most likely situation, right?

It’s a turbo high mileage engine, but still within reliable limits.

Is it outrageous to request that technique which involves using the bubble soap stuff which annihilates the carbon, and spits out the crap through the exhaust? then ask to run another compression check? My thinking is that perhaps the carbon buildup is greater than just 15% and perhaps the compression is lower than factory spec. Is that a rediculous assumption?

Just slightly nervous since it is a high mileage engine, the owner has all the receipts from maintenance and crap, but

thanks

no
what kind of car is this

do you know if there has been a head gasket failure?

maybe they milled the head a bit…

which is it, higher or lower?

seafoam is what you’re thinking of.

that would definately do the trick

:word: Check the receipts from the maintenance / ask if the headgasket(s) were ever done.

Isn’t that the shit you use to stick your dentures in with?
