i was just flipping though the keystone performance catalog and came upon a engine damper for the 89-94 S13. it attaches to your strut tower and has a bracket the attaches to your engine. it looks like a small shock.
anyway has anyone used one, does it make a difference. and how do they attack to your motor…
thanks
Brent
id personally just use a solid mount for the engine instead
i know that with the dampers for sr engines they dont fit that great and you usally have to make a few mods to get it to sit correctly.

Yep I have an home-made one.
I used a trunk shock and it works really, really well.

what page is that on in the keystone book?
Id really like to see a pic of this contraption
I was thinking about one, the engine really does move a lot.
Well I’ve never taken a pic of it. Also it was a bit of work but the engine hardly moves at all. A few of guys here on the board can attest to that.
This way was just quicker, eaiser and accomplished the same thing as new motor mounts.
I’ll see about snapping a pic if I get the chance.

its on page #153 in the keystone book. 2004 the part number is
EV1006 - 89-94 Nissan 240sx
EV1007 - 95-98 Nissan 240sx
i never thought about using a hatch shock . please take a few pics…
i would like to see how you made the bracket and where it attached to…
Brent
Yup, I’ve seen it with my own two eyes. Looks pretty easy to do, and damps the engine well.
project silvia makes them, they can be found on ebay for $81 usd all day long.
i imagine keystone has prolly a $150 jobber or more.
the problem with the engine dampers is clearing aftermarket manifolds on SR.
there is no engine damper kit for KA.
i have an engine damper but not the project silvia one. it is not installed yet either. i am going to get the shop that does all my other work to make up a pretty bracket to make sure the damper avoids the manifold. the damper i have is just the damber with no brackets.
Wonder if this would work? If it can defeat a tank slap on a bike at 150MPH, it may work for me.
Custom bracket, voila,
or you could buy trhem from signal fro 255 US hahaha

Ture enough but as bing mentioned, they don’t offer them for the KA series motor’s.
Thats what makes my bar so cool. It will for sure bolt on any DOHC motor. I am not sure about the SOHC but Im confident I can adapt it so it fits.
It will clear intake plenum’s and would be a really good idea for anyone turboing there KA for torque. It’s a very cost effective way to stiffen the motor without removing it for mounts. Also helps with making sure the power transfers down the driveline to the rear wheels where it’s supposed to be, instead of being somewhat lost to engine movement. They can even be painted to match your color scheme, if you have one, in the engine bay.
Hmmmm, I should market these! Anyone interested???

hey guys, i have personally seen sidewaze’s engine damper and i can tell you this… boy does it work well. the engine barely moves at all when he revs up the engine. im getting him to do mine for $100. i think overall, it’s worth it.
this one works for both applications and is priced competitively

I could do it for less and not need those brackets or bolts.
Dang it bruce, post some pics already. Gosh.
Ya but if I post pic’s everyone will see how I did it. Then where does that leave me  .
That leaves you as being one selfish bastard. :dunno:

I love you too man!
if you are worried about people snagging your idea it will likely happen anyways after you sell a few.
the only way you will be able to market them successfully is if there is something about the product that other people cannot imitate as cheaply.
if you cant make it any cheaper than anyone else can then you arent going to make any money anyways so u might as well show us all.
heck it might turn out that 4 minutes after you show a pic that 5 guys can do it for half the price.
