engine light

Thats what I was thinking…or…

This may sound stupid but check to make sure theres oil in the car. I’ve seen people drive cars dry, not good. Doesn’t hurt to check.

If he tells you that you needa new engine because ur engine lights on. Get the hell out of there. Come to my shop and ill tell u the real problem

well the mechanic just called me. I relayed to him the things on here, he said my egr vavle is fine and there is no orange dust. he is going to get me a new valve cover gasket on Monday in hopes that will do it. He said that possibly the cylinder is dead causing the plug to fault out, or the valve is out of adjustment :frowning:

It sounds like the mechanic is throwing parts at your car and doesn’t really know what is wrong. He should be able to know exactly why there is a problem with your motor if he pulled the code from your car. Did he say what code was stored in the ECU? Where did you take your car?

a valve cover gasket to fix a misfire?

x2

I took it to the only place I could find open today. Mike’s Service Shop on route 19 in Zelienople. He didn’t say what the code was, but I will be sure to ask him on Monday morning… Thanks guys, i really appreciate all of this help, i am lost without you…

Being a mechanic myself I get pissed when other “mechanics” who don’t know how to diagnose a problem throws parts at a car to fix it. If they don’t know say “I don’t know” and tell you to take it to someone who does. I have seen older cars with the spark plug wells 100% full of oil from a leaking valve cover gasket and not cause a misfire. It could be though anything is possible and I don’t know the condition of the plugs, wires, etc…The fact that he said “you may need a new motor” worries me though.

I reckon joo kneed ah knew darn enjohn

Plugged cat :kekegay: or crappy 02

think she replaced the cat earlier this year or something and usually when a 02 is screwed on an OBD2 vehicle its lets you know

go fix it tony ! :naughty:

well maybe I will

it aint no ford or chevy but i reckon i can fix ur fancy shmancy import but it aint gon be cheap.

Your problem is probly a misfire, Which could of or did put excess gas in your cat which caused your cat to melt down. Dude i’d send ur car somewhere else. A valve cover has nothing to do with an engine light I Know a kid who has a leaky valve cover for almost a year and half and nothings happening

shes a woman :spank:

^ lol

yeah at this point I am thinking Acura may be worth taking it to… :frowning:

man women who cares lol. Well i guess cuz ur a girl ( if u are) There taken advantage of u

^ yes I am a chick…

totally blows… let me tell you, i told the 1st mechanic it was a mis-fire and he said, “uh huh, sure… yeah well we will take a look at it and let you know” Called me back that same day and said it was a mis-fire. fucker

so this guy will replace my valve whatever on Monday then what ya know? At that point I would love to take it to a new mechanic, but then I gotta go through the same thing again with the troubleshooting, and who’se to say the new mechanic doesn’t try to rip me off?

I wouldnt rip u off. Plus there’s probly like 5 or more guys on here who are mechanics or work at a shop
