engine light

( bigblockelcamino ) on here, has shop in moon twp. approx 1/2 hour from your location

well I think the decision has been made that we are going to tow it to Country Motors in Butler or Acura in Wexford b/c they have a machine to check the code and they know the vehicles.

I have no problem taking it to a shop on here, but I am not sure where the shops are, how experienced they are with acuras, if they have the machine to get to code… ya know? It’s just a really shitty situation for me :frowning:

Vaportrail might know more than me about this…but a buddy of mine’s sister had an Acura with a similar problem…it ended up being a $450 coil pack…very difficult to detect. It happened a second time and she sold the car.

PM Vaportrail

coilpacks easy to detech. If you have a snapon diagnostic machine like we do and most garages do they can read each coil and see how there firing. How much and when. You can watch your 02 sensor and everyother part of the engine.

thanks! I’m on it!

integras dont have coilpacks. we still use those primitive distributor thingys

If im correct u have a coil in the distributor thats it

you would be correct sir

howstuffworks.com is the best website ever!!!

You don’t need a scan tool to get codes out of an Integra. It will blink them out for you. Look at my first post and it will walk you through it step by step. It’s not hard and requires nothing more than a paper clip.

she has a 98, which means its OBD2, if I remember correctly OBD2 does not have ability to do flash diagnosis.

Which shop is yours, I’m not to far from Bridgeville?

I’d have to tow it there in either case… :frowning:

i tow

I work Dont own sorry. McB Autosport. We work on BMW’s, mercedeze, Acura, Honda (owner son is a guru on honda’s) Mg’s, Porsche’s, Jags ect

No, you can still do it on the OBD II Acuras too. I have done it to my 98 GSR and my friends 00 Type R. It will blink the engine light with fast then slow flashes giving you the code. It’s one of the only cars that are OBD II that you can still pull codes from with out a scanner.

thanks for clearing that up

i still say OBD1 > OBD2 haha

update

so i think my wonderful dad is going to loan me his car to get back to CT b/c i really can’t miss anymore work. Since he is offered to pay the bill he wants to take the car to Acura, I am thinking it might be better to take it to First Try since they won’t charge me my first born and i can trust you all… i just gotta tow it there?

Daddy’s Girl

That’s what family is for…Did I mention we might be cousins? :naughty: :cuddle:
