Escort Restoration and BPT Swap

when i did a 5 speed swap on a tsi i had two loop 2 wires on the main harness that plugs the tranny. Idk if you would have to do something similar (just an idea).

The main problem is that the current dash harness is the one from an auto and it doesn’t have the plugs for the clutch and neutral safety switch. I think i’m just going to bypass everything and set up a push button start. I’ll create a bypass tomorrow to see if it will even work.

Update on the build: Mechanically the car is complete. Also the body is fully assembled and It looks like an escort again. Electrical is the only thing left. I’ll have pics tomorrow and an update on the progress of getting the car running.

why not just swap the full harness i think there is a total of 4 of them in the car

Love the project, I would have gone with a mint 91 GT with wrap around wing and 5 star blades. Hard to find I know but it would have been my route. Great progress. Cant wait to see it done.

i forget, are you doing the N/A swap first and then a turbo?

since it is a manual odometer can’t you just turn it back to match your other one with 60,000 on it?

I think he said that GT motor had around 70k on it, you should put it at that. and I saw this car in person yesterday when I went to pick up my bumper from him. It looks really good and the car is in great shape for a New York car.

91EscortBASS didn’t tell you guys about all the swearing and anger when the car wouldn’t start. Gas was all over the place and I was so confused. I am going to have to swap all the harnesses. The dash is the main one that I think is needed. One other thing. I think the ECU is shot. I know when a honda ECU is fried it makes a loud dinging sound coming from the ECU. Thats what mine is doing.

I got the ignition and fuel pump bypassed. I got so angry. Tryed screwing with everything cuz my main consern at first was fuel. Then NO SPARK:banghead:.

All that crap aside, I’m engaged as of today:D

ITS ALIVE:D!!! Missed a plug on the ECU that was covered by he carpet. Stupid mistake. Runs a little rough but there was vacuum leaks like crazy. This was just a mock up run. Now I’ll throw everything together and see how it is on the road.
