Escort Restoration and BPT Swap

I found a set of skirts at the yard so I grabbed them and I have an updated set of pics from the front. Going to look at a GT later in today and possible grab a front clip at the yard on monday(one finally showed up)

These are supposed to have a great chassis for their age. I have always wanted a GT version of one of these.

if that was on a stock block its only a matter of a short time before it splits in half.

Nobody said anything about stock parts. They just said it wasn’t possible you could pull 500hp out of a N/A 331.

I would be more gun ho about a RWD conversion but this has to be my backup car for the summer. And I just bought a GT for the donor anyways. I’ll have it on sunday. Paid, just have to pickup…

I’m a new york state inspector. I have more then just an interest in cars. That wasn’t meant to be a shot at you(cougarspeed)… People think that because I’m a “noob” to the site, I’m new to cars or know nothing about them.

I restored hot rods a old fords with my father, grandfather(the owners of the engine shop that everyone talked shit about) all of my life. Also helped with engine builds and body work, including the 475HP 331 stroker(N/A) in the 70’ cougar eliminator. I may not know everything about a foxbody mustang, but they know everything about building high performance motors and I know plenty more then most.

I joined this forum looking for more insite about building an escort on a budget and selling some of the crap I have sitting around. Not trying to give a life story but give everyone an idea of what I know. If all you can do is talk shit, stay away from this thread.

What I didn’t show you is the passenger side. Both that and the roof are bashed to hell permanent marker writing on the seats, spoiler held on by gorilla glue and the floor is rotted through too…

Brakes are new(calipers, pads, and rotors all around)
Rear struts and springs new
Front struts 2 months old
Front bumper and side skirts no damage
front and rear link pins new
70k on motor
190k on shell
clutch slave cylinder leaks(dead pedal)
needs shifter bushings real bad

Other then that its perfect for the swap for me… And I have all paperwork for most of the new parts.
