Escort Restoration and BPT Swap

Well, that explains that! Driver’s side looks good!

any chance you would be interested in some parts in the summer when i strip my protege corksport 2.5" catback, tokico s/r struts, sprint 2" lowering springs,bp55 gtx ecu for when you do the bpt swap,1" zx2 front swaybar

+1 for a unique project. Looks like fun for ya, good luck.

It’s great to see a 4cyl build that isn’t a Civic. Keep us updated.

escgt- any chance you would be interested in some parts in the summer when i strip my protege corksport 2.5" catback, tokico s/r struts, sprint 2" lowering springs,bp55 gtx ecu for when you do the bpt swap,1" zx2 front swaybar

I want the struts, catback, and front swaybar. Throw me a price. I’m thinkin bout doing the catback myself but I like the corksport setup. Those springs are too low for me, otherwise I would grab them too. Would you happen to have a header? Cant find one anywhere… Im going to hold off on the turbo stuff till the car is finished and running…

i have the stock tube style manifold if you want it, better then paying for a header anyways…you know the number…

if you feel like keeping your stock parts on there until summer i would want $575 for everything but the ecu

springs are really not that low i have 195/65/15 on my protege right now

Ill keep that in mind. Thanks

Isn’t that what came with the car? or is there two different styles???

Looks like you are making some very good progress.

Trying to get this done fast and right. Weather sucks and that doesn’t help. But it seems to be going smoothly.

Ran into a bit of a problem today. The spark plug hole was full of oil. Valve cover gasket was worn and leaking oil real bad. Screwed up the plug and wire and started misfiring real bad. Thats what I spent most of today trying to figure out. That and the engine bay is fully painted. I’ll get a pick of it before I start throwing in the GT suspension tomorrow…

The GT in the process of being disassembled…

Next to the LX…

The LX painted engine bay…

The before and after of the rear tail lights and reflector being painted. Don’t mind the bad reflection. The newly painted parts reflect better then the old red at the moment.

Update:
Found out the GT has a bent R/F control arm(kinda pissed me off but I don’t need it). Having trouble removing the drive shafts. Seems to be a two piece on the pass side(has a torn boot, another thing to piss me off). If anyone knows how the get them apart I’d really appreciate it. Other then that, the harness is next to come out and I’m debating whether or not to run the cruise control for the GT on the LX. Also thinking about putting the two tone(grey/black) interior in the LX. LX currently has navy blue. There has been controversy over the color of the car. The girlfriend saw how the GT looked in black and fought until I changed my mind. So… I’m changing the color from Rosso Alfa red to BMW charcoal black metallic.

No way red ftmfw!

pry bar on the driver side between the trans and the end of the axle the intermediate shaft just unbolts from the back of the block 14mm socket 32mm for the axle nut

Thanks man. I’ll pull those tomorrow. Hopefully it works out so I can finish this thing up.

No way red ftmfw!

I don’t have much of a say…:whip:

Solid project. Keep up the good pace!

Awesome, a fun project that is not about how much is spent, but all the work instead.

X…

Count me in as following this project. Looks very interesting and hopefully I’ll learn a thing or two. Keep it up.

Spent a bit of time trying to fix the clutch problem while everything was visible. The slave cylinder is fine. All lines were solid and clean. No leaks there. Tryed bleeding the system. Got a pedal after you pump it a million times but then fades to nothing. Any Ideas? Clutch master cylinder maybe? Not to experianced with clutch systems…

you in need of a 1.8 gtx ecu for when you start collecting your turbo parts?

Yes, clutch master.

Yes I am in need of a GTX ECU. Would you happen to have one???
