We’ve recently taken in an F40 for some diagnostics, repairs, and upgrades. The car was brought to us with some significant drivability issues. Keep in mind this is no ordinary (is there such a thing) F40, it has twin Garrett GT3071R’s with TiAL housings, custom headers, a built motor, and most of the supporting mods (more to come).

The first issue we came across was a major ignition miss caused by faulty wiring. To solve this we’ve decided to rebuild the entire ignition harness utilizing an M&W Pro-18d, and 8 Denso pencil coils.

We’ll keep the updates coming but meanwhile here are a few more pics…

The old Ferrari F40 fuel regulators weren’t up to the task, so we replaced the twin regulator system with a single Holley Performance Products pressure regulator to be sure both rails have equal fuel pressure.

Joe and Roger flew down this morning to give the Ferrari a test drive and were very pleased with the end result! After an hour or so of putting it through its paces, here is a snap shot of everyone checking over the car and discussing future modifications!

So it’s been awhile, we had a long wait for some 321 tubing and a couple collectors from Burns but you can’t beat the quality… I’ve been hard at it the last couple days working on the manifolds. I won’t have much time this week but I’ll post updates as I go.

I form the tube into the flange and weld with 347 rod on the inside and Silicone Bronze on the outside.

Everything is back purged.

I had a tough time getting a decent installed picture, or any picture of them for the matter…

You can see the difference in the 321 weld on the right and the 304 on the left, I’ve always found 321 to be more opaque when it’s welded properly.

I have the other side about wrapped up but I really haven’t been able to get very good photos of anything. I’ll push the car outside when it’s done for some decent pictures in better light.

We can’t wait to fire this thing back up. It should be a whole new car.

I finally got some time to get back on the F40, the passenger header is all mocked up. I should have the headers wrapped up Monday. Hopefully this thing will be back on the road shortly…

I should have some final install pics tomorrow but in the meantime the collectors are welded up and the runners are all tacked up. I should have the last few finish welded first thing in the morning.

Finally got the headers wrapped up and installed. I can’t wait to hear this thing fire back up.

Copper lock nuts, spring loaded double slip collectors, and port matched flanges… It’s the little things that make the difference.
