Evo Guy's

it shouldn’t… the money you save will pay for anything that goes wrong. plus you won’t really get much of a warranty on an evo – dealers will say a change in tire air pressure voids the warranty…

but regardless, make sure you pick a good example – most “stock” dealer trade-ins are cars that were once modified and returned to stock in a half-assed way.

if your looking to get an 03 to 06 u wont find anything rly at dealers
best bet for that would be either local people selling on here
or evom which would be www.evolutionm.net
for 08 wise there are dealers locally with them such as dan georger or ray laks
if u need any information about like gsr vs mr let me know
there are some differences, i personally like my mr but it all depends on the person

thanks for the info. trying to guage if i wanna take the warranty or buy older and keep the money i save and use that. plus i figure its gonna be hard to not mod it so that would void the warrany anyways.

i am gonna start looking for 03+ models under 20k and see what comes up and see how it fits.

best deal right here, he has already taken care of the weak links (and most expensive) tranny, x-case, clutch

I really like yours Geoff, it’s a 9 right?

Is it for sale?

lol.

Cortese in Rochester sells lots of Evos as well. He has a bunch of X’s in his inventory I believe.

Found a couple VII, VIII, and IX’s I am going to look at between 14k and 20k all with under 30,000 miles. Most aren’t the MR but I am not extremely picky on that.

What are some big points to check for replacements? Tranny and clutch. Anything else that is a big thing to look at?

Also, anyone who finds something local under 20k please let me know or PM me your cars for sale. Would really like to be close to the car to see it without traveling.

pm’d

transfer case is another big issue.
and you need to work on your roman numeral skillz

:snky: i have a evo XIV already. shhhhh. dont tell anyone :snky:

Is the factory warranty cover the tranny, clutch, and transfer case if you do not do any power train mods?

you’ll almost never get a clutch covered… tranny and transfer case have a decent shot if you have nothing in the power train modified… they’ll try and pin anything they can on you so they don’t have to cover it…

good luck getting that BS covered, u will go through hell trying to get it done

Anything they consider “wear items” they will stick to their guns on. Clutch, brakes, tires, etc.

Ya I am not too worried about the big wear items but more about the tranny in a used one if that would be covered.

You can call mitsubishi with the vin numbers, and they’ll tell you the remainder of the warranty. Also mitsu dealer service depts do this for me all the time. Just call them up and tell them you’re thinking of buying this car, want to make sure it wasn’t abused, blah blah blah…

Ok cool. I will try this. There is one, maybe 2 on here I wanna look at and then 2 I found online that I am looking at this week. I already got pre approved for my loan so I am basically looking for the best deal one one I like and gonna buy it right there. Lol.

you found an evo for $14,000 with less then 30k?

No Way, scam, been in accidents or salvage. 20k is a bit more believable and still cheap
