External WasteGate dump pipe?

Hi

i am planning on going with a KA-T setup but i am stumped on something, where/how can i go about to get a wastegate dump pipe that leads back to the exhuast piping somewhere? is there like a special exhaust system i can buy that has this in mind? I know i have the atmoshpheric dump option but i dont like it :stuck_out_tongue:

i havent started the setup as yet becuase i havent really got the “Right” parts for a setup nore do i have a 240sx…as yet! but it will help for future planning.

i was thinking of just sending it back to the turbo exhaust elbow since the elbow will be custom. but i dont want to do all that work.

umm… it depends on your exhuast manifold. there are no downpipes that come with wastegate setups unless its a kit…

every manifold is different. so every screamer pipe is different.

do you know what your doing?

There is allot more research you need to start doing… go to chapters and pick up ‘maximum boost’ by corky bell. This will get you along the right path to knowing what your doing and how to do it…

i kinda know what i am doing… i know i will need fuel “gagets” to suport the extra boost, and i am planing on getting a top mount manifold with a flange for an external wastegate since i am going to buy a t3/t4 turbo. i am not looking for some kind of 500hp setup, im just looking at something that could be daily drivin with some kick.

but i think Jesse pretty much answered my question soo thanks for the help!

What the fuck is a “fuel gaget”? Anyways, do you know anything about turbine trims and A/Rs and whatnot? “I’m going to get a T3/T4 turbo” sounds like something a 15 year old reading Super Street might say.

just make sure you know what your doing and ask when you dont know the answer, ka-ts can be fussy and pop easily.

my kat setup

stock ka
bottom mount tubular manifold
aluminum fmic kit
greddy split chamber dump pipe
rebuilt t25 with gt28r compressor wheel
testpipe
sr injectors
safc2
walbro
3in turboback
6 puck clutch with 30% over p/plate

plan on a street tune with wb02 soon as its in
not installed yet but will be in a few weeks

run 7psi for a bit and then get it tuned for 10psi hopefully no overboost problems

i still want to get a n60 maxima maf

should make boost very early but time will tell

goodluck with your project

Oh god - you plan to make 500 hp and your thinking you need “fuel gagets”

I’m thinking you’re going to need a lot of money.

he said hes not looking for some kind of 500hp setup dan.

Well it seems your quite steadfast in NOT takig the advice given, or you’ve fooled yourself into believing that you know allot more about tuning that you seem too. I’m not sure what you were looking for on this site for an answer to your… ‘questions’ But when you say things like " I kinda know what I’m doing’ then proceed to talk nonsense, it’s not looking good for people to take you seriously. At least not the people who know what they are doing.

regardless good luck with your build up

I have a KA-T with the wastegate dump tube recirc’d back to the exhaust/downpipe, it was just custom piping and some welding. Makes the car super quiet under boost, it works like gold.

Make sure that it’s entry point into the downpipe/exhaust is far enough away from the turbo to prevent boost creep. Ideally, you’d want an entry-angle that would “aim” the wastegate exhaust toward the rest of the exhaust system as opposed to toward the turbo, for the same reason.

If you want to see it or any q’s just throw me a PM.

Good luck with the project.

I have built high HP Ka-T’s and by High, at the most about 325 - 360 (maybe) Just tossing boost at it isn’t going to do anything more that blow it up really fast.

The motor I built for a client had abour $9000 worth of parts, pistons rods, cams, fueling. Not to mention the AEM ecu ($3000) etc. It will hold more than 20Psi of boost, I wouldn’t say reliably, but it will do it. I believe there are some issues with the valve shims and a slipping clutch, but it runs well. I don’t remember what turbo it had on it, I do know that it was a turbonetics turbo, and that I had one hell of a time re-building sections of the manifold that were previously poorly done.

500 Hp, even though the great moron Jim Wolf tells the gulible people that he can create 500HP Ka’s that use stock nisson clutches etc… (LOAD OF BS) is next if not near to impossible, without tossing a moddest 17 - 20 thousand at the motor alone.

Been there, done it, know what I’m talking about.
